Song Lyric Sunday – 9 January 2022 – Spiders In My Bed

Jim Adams’ Song Lyric Sunday gives us the chance to share familiar, and sometimes not so familiar, songs. This week the prompt is to find a song that may include, or reference, one of the following: Concern, Fear, Fret, Worry – suggested by Fandango of This, That and the Other
If you fancy sharing one of your favourite songs you can find out how to participate, and also listen to all the great entries, here.
Beth Hart has been described as a new Janis Joplin and Tina Turner combined and there is no doubting her talent. She has a rich contralto voice and plays piano, guitar, cello, bass guitar and percussion.
Here she is singing Spiders In My Bed, from her debut album Immortal, released on 21 May 1996.
For some people, spiders are their greatest fear and, for those not of a squeamish nature, there is a lovely spider in my post here.
Spiders in My Bed
What’s that you say
Gonna sleep all day
So tired, been wired
You’re so uptight
Got no sleep last night
Gone crazy, so lazy
You say, I’ve been awake so long
My feet are ’bout to fumble
I’ve been wake so long barely holding on
I’ve been wake so long my knees begin to tremble
And I like how I feel
Don’t turn out the light
Don’t turn out the light
What’s that you said
Spiders in your bed
Can’t rest here
Desperate fear
Go get your gun
Smoke the little ones
A cheap thrill, sleeping pill
You say, I’ve been wake so long
My feet are bout to fumble
I’ve been wake so long barely holding on
I’ve been wake so long my knees begin to tremble
And I like how I feel
Spiders in my bed
Spiders in my bed
Yes, that’s what I said
Spiders in my bed
Don’t turn out the light

As a bonus, and to make sure the spider does not become hungry, I have provided a fly for its supper. Here it is!

Apology to a spider – second leg – Rapid rhyme #29
I’m sorry Mrs Spider that I destroyed your home
I merely wished to walk your way whilst on my morning roam
I hope you soon restore the mess that I so rudely made
Please send the bill to me at once, it will be swiftly paid!
I went the same way once again to see if she was there
I found a cup and saucer smashed and half a broken chair
Her neighbour said she’d moved away, we talked of this and that
I understand that she has moved into a brand new flat

Apology to a spider – Rapid rhyme #28

I’m sorry Mrs Spider that I destroyed your home
I merely wished to walk your way whilst on my morning roam
I hope you soon restore the mess that I so rudely made
Please send the bill to me at once, it will be swiftly paid!
