I’m proud of myself

I’m not a fan of modern parenting techniques, especially the American kind that praises a child with constant “Great Job” for completing every task. However, I think it’s a good thing that we should all be proud of ourselves every once in a while, so here’s mama nous, especially for you…and I do mean YOU!

Cool songs for kind kids (of all ages!)

Hi, I’m mama nous (*ma*ma*noo) and I’m so excited to sing with you!

I share songs, tools, and magically mindful (re)parenting strategies to help you connect with children (including your inner child!) in ways that gently build emotional intelligence & resilience.

I believe kids’ music should be enjoyable for grown-ups too, so my musical style is influenced by my background as an indie folk musician. I hope my songs bring more joy and playfulness into your family’s life, give you language to start big conversations, and help you nurture your own inner child.

Lyrics of i’m proud of myself by mama nous

I′m proud of myself

And i’m really really cool

Cuz i did that thing

That i didn′t wanna do

And i did a good job

And it wasn’t that bad

And now that it’s over with

I′m really really glad!

§

I′m proud of myself

And i’m really really great

Cuz i had lotsa patience

When i didn′t wanna wait

And i did a good job

And it wasn’t that bad

And now that it′s my turn

I’m really really glad!

§

I′m proud of myself

And i’m really really strong

Cuz i said i was sorry

When i did something wrong

And i did a good job

And it wasn’t that bad

And now that i made amends

I′m really really glad!

§

I′m proud of myself

And i’m really gassed up

Cuz i made a big mess

Then i went and cleaned it up

And i did a good job

And it wasn′t that bad

And now that my space is clean

I’m really really glad!

§

I′m proud of myself

And i’m really really cool

Cuz i did that thing

That i didn′t wanna do

And i did a good job

And it wasn’t that bad

And now that it’s over with

I′m really really glad!

Live A Good Life

“Live a good life.  If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.

§

If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.

§

If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

Dank, dire, and dreary

Autumnal airs presage the woes that surely will ensue if

Republican maniac somehow manages to triumph over

Broken Promise

This is in response to Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt #277 where the given word is RENEGE and the word count is 49.

This poem went its own way once I started it. I will not reveal my interpretation, but would be interested to hear your thoughts.

§

Remember, you promised. You said you would

Every time you promised “If you’re really good!”

Now I lie here, having been good, I’m in despair

Every time you promised but don’t seem to care

Great is the price, it’s clear to see

Every time you promised, you promised me!

Phonethics

There isn’t much decorum left

it seems it’s sadly lacking

I share your phone calls every day

because you’re loudly yacking

I heard about your pimply bum

the rash upon your belly

I know your partner oft breaks wind

and that it’s awful smelly

I thought your view on her next door

was really rather rude

And now I know your thoughts on me

And, yes, I am a prude!

But Boris is a great bloke? NO!

I really can’t agree

I wish you’d keep your voice more hushed

Not share your calls with me!

Happy Thanksgiving (Song Lyric Sunday – 16 May 2021 – Uplifting)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, even those who do not celebrate. I am thankful for all those who give their time and/or money to help those less fortunate than themselves, not seeking acknowledgment or reward. May the whole world be more tolerant and more understanding of the needs of so many who cannot, for whatever reason, help themselves.

Jim Adams’ Song Lyric Sunday gives us the chance to share familiar, and sometimes not so familiar, songs. This week the prompt is Elevator Music.

If you fancy sharing one of your favourite songs you can find out how to participate, and also listen to all the great entries, here.

Now, I have a big problem with this week’s prompt. We do not have elevators in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and I understand that Elevator Music does not have lyrics.Furthermore, Elevator Music is deemed to have ceased to exist with effect from 2009 when Muzac filed for bankruptcy, however they were rescued by Mood Media in 2011, although they ceased trading as Muzac in 2013.

We do have Lifts in the UK but most of our buildings have so few floors that it is hardly worth listening to just a few bars of indeterminate music.Instead, we…

Poem-A-Day 2021, Day 11: Hafiz — Sappho’s Torque

BERJAYA

I came across this profound and lovely poem on Angélique’s blog. Please click on the link here.

If you have never read any of Hafiz then this could be the start of a life journey for you!

Sappho’s Torque

the blog of Angélique Jamail, Author

Here is another lovely fragment from Mala of the Heart, this time by Hafiz of Persia (Iran). It reminds me of the need and mutual benefit of kindness in the world. God blooms from the shoulder of the elephant who becomes courteous to the ant. *** Hafiz (ca. 1320-1389) was born in the garden city of Shiraz. It is said that after the early […]
