A Devil of a Day

The day before I died I tried, I really tried atonement

But God had plans and clearly said “For you, it’s clear – disownment!”

Not one to mess about too long I bargained with the Devil

Who knew?  He’s quite a decent chap whose given name is Neville

§

We talked all night of many things until the sun was rising

He really knew his stuff which I, for one, found quite surprising

We ate a hearty breakfast and continued with our stories

Wondering who would win the polls and hoping Not the Tories

§

We ate and drank and walked and sat and met his family

And as the day progressed he said “Let’s have a special tea”

The sun was setting slowly as we dined amongst the sheep

I thanked him kindly, shook his hand, and drifted off to sleep!

Merry Christmas | Peter Matthews — Whispers and Echoes

Especially for all those whose work cannot stop just because it is Christmas. May you be richly blessed whether you celebrate Christmas or not. May those you love, feel that love even though you may not be able to meet and hug.

Twittering Tales #110 – 13 November 2018

Time again for Kat Myrman’s wonderful challenge to tax our creativity. Just take her photo prompt and write a story, inspired by it, in 280 characters or fewer.

Here is this week’s prompt and my contribution. Check out all the fabulous entries here and, if you’ve never had a go, why not try a story of your own? You may surprise yourself!

Laura the lamb was really embarrassed.
Late for school, yet again!
It was bad enough that her Mum insisted on taking her every day, always waiting outside the gates, there for everyone to see.
No other Mum had 2 bodies;  and why did the legs always try to go in different directions?

Countin’ Sheep

Having trouble sleeping?
You could do a lot worse than popping along to Kat Myrman’s place and reading a few of her magnificent tales (and they’re not just lamb’s tails!)

Now I know you like countin’ on the likes of me, but I gotta warn ya’

If I was countin’ on me I would never be able to sleep at night ’cause I’m a follower, I tell ya’; can’t think fer m’self and I’m liable to lead ya’ somewheres ya’ might not want to go…if ya’ foller what I’m sayin’.

But if it’s nightmares yer lookin’ fer, then I’m yer sheep; jus’ don’t say I didn’t warn ya’.
