Another old post to brighten up a dull Friday. What better than a trip to the seaside and a little sunshine? First published as Swimming For Beginners on 01/07/2023.

Swimming for Beginners
This was prompted by Margaret’s post today and a comment that may lead to a trip to a beautiful and fascinating part of the UK, The Hebrides.
Kate Macleod, a.k.a The Hebridean Mermaid, appears regularly on Facebook, BBC Scotland TV, and YouTube. Here she can be seen taking her goslings for their first sea adventure. You can follow her other adventures using your favourite search engine.

The Mayfly
This is in response to Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt #312 where the given word is EPHEMERAL, and the word count is 43.

The Mayfly
A flighty fing flapped flippantly
It flew so fast that day
It settled briefly on the lake
And then began to lay
Its only thought survival
And laying eggs a’plenty
It did just that and then I think
Wence it came it wenty!

I Love The Bartons!
An occasional post of my music choices. No analysis, or explanation, maybe just a few words to say why! In this case, more than a few!
In The Elephant’s Pianist I introduced you to Paul Barton who lives in Bangkok, Thailand with his wife Khwan, and daughter Emilie. They are all extremely talented artists and musicians. Here you can watch the whole 33 minutes, or dip in and out as you wish. I cannot resist watching the whole lot over and over.
You will be able to see very many videos, charting the Bartons’ life. There are links all over the web, including at the end of these videos. You can see music, art, and details of a nasty campaign trying to discredit Paul’s work with elephants. I have become rather enamoured with their work. I hope you can enjoy a little of it here!
50 Father-Daughter Moments at the Piano – Baby to 7 Years Old (dur: 33 mins)
And here you can see 7 year old Emilie playing Moon River for her dog Sharkey!
We’re all Quackers!
I waved to the duck, but she didn’t wave back.
I said “how ya doin’?” the duck didn’t quack.
I started to leave, saying “really must go!”
and then from behind me a small voice said “Whoa!”
The duck shouted out “Please do not go,
I just have to ask, how on earth did you know?
I normally keep quiet when folk pass me by
but you were so nice I just had to reply.
I’m feeling quite lonely, the rest haven’t tarried,
I’m not very old and am quite newly married.
I was feeling quite down ‘till you came along,
Will you please join me in singing this song?”
