Lens Artists Challenge – Holiday Fun

Ann-Christine leads this week’s theme of Holiday Fun. I’ve decided to share photos from Halloween and Christmas. I don’t know about where you live but Halloween is a big deal around here. I’ve read that people spend quite a lot on the decor, costumes, candy and parties. We join the fun with our grandkids carving pumpkins and going trick or treating.

Christmas fun starts up right after Thanksgiving. Last year, we started a crafting day where we painted T shirts and sweatshirts. We had so much fun – we decided to do this every year.

Baking is something we have done for as long as I remember. Cookies, cakes and other sweets make great gifts.

There’s always a reading of “The Night Before Christmas”. My mom read it to me, I read it to my girls and so it continues.

I love unpacking the ornaments to decorate the tree—each one carries its own special memory, like this one from my childhood.

Of course the pets have to be part of the fun.

After all the unwrapping and eating, everyone drifts off to sleep.

Thanks Ann-Christine for a great topic!

Lens Artists Challenge – Topic – Things with Wings

This week Beth presents a topic that’s both easy and difficult. Easy because I have lots of photos of winged subjects. Difficult because – which ones do I choose for this post? Here are my choices starting with birds of the beach.

I also enjoy photographing our backyard birds.

In the summer, we have quite a few different types of winged insects. I have been known to follow them around the yard with my camera while they decide where to land.

I guess I should stop here at 7 photos. Thanks Beth for a great topic!
