We’re blue this week on CFFC. This bluebird posed nicely for me against the clear blue sky.

Some of my favorite photos

This week, Sofia has us being BOLD. On her site Sofia states that “being bold is a statement, translated in ideas, views, colour combinations, designs”. Here are my bold statements in photos.
Locally we have an adventure park with rope climbing and zip lines. Look closely on the right side of the photo and you’ll see a bold person having their adventure.

Kids have their own type of boldness and they have a blast in the process.

This dancer has to have the boldness to believe that she will land correctly on the stage.

Astronauts posses an unbelievable boldness to squeeze themselves into small spaces, shoot into space and catapult back down to earth.

This past summer we had an abundance of hummingbirds in our yard. For such a tiny creature – they show gigantic boldness when it comes to their territory.

I am fearful of flying due to a past bad experience and will be getting on a plane soon. Although I flown recently, the fear is still there. The fact that the ticket has been bought for the flight makes me feel bold!!

Red is the dominant color this week. Here is a scene from a local performance of the Nutcracker ballet.

For more info on this week’s challenge – go to Dan’s page and see some great examples.
This week Ann-Christine has truly given us a challenge. Pick one and only one photo and explain why that photo was picked.
Here’s the photo and the reason is that – these are my loves, my family, my everything. My daughter’s dog, Jarvis, decided to photobomb us and as you can see, he’s not easily moved.

This week on Lens Artists Patti has us looking at our preference in a particular photo for color or black and white. Please visit her site for some wonderful examples.
The first photo I have chosen is a cone flower. The black and white brings out more flower detail but I also like the color.

Let’s go to the beach with my next 2 photos. I prefer the color photo of the shore bird. I think it’s due to the blue tones in the sand. The pier house seems to change mood with the b/w looking like an overcast day however the color photo shows that it’s a beautiful blue-sky day with some wispy clouds.

I look forward to your thoughts. Thanks Patti for a great challenge!!
Migrating and year round birds have dominated my photos for January. They are a joy to see.
The first one is a female cardinal enjoying some seed that we threw on the snow for the birds to enjoy.

Another regular backyard visitor is the finches.

I don’t often see kildeer, so I was delighted to see this one.

This little cutie is a pine warbler.

The tundra swans can be seen in our area in January and February.

The last one is a beautiful tree swallow that we saw at a local wildlife refuge.

This week – Tina is hosting us in a delightful challenge of our fur babies. We had cats when we were first married, but the majority of time we have had dogs. I’ll start with my daughter’s cats Cheddar and Sandy. Cheddar is a sweetheart and Sandy can be when it suits her.

We have had several dogs as well as “granddogs”. Our current dog is Gidget and she is full of personality and love. She watches TV and barks at any 4-legged animal that shows up on the screen. This is her TV watching pose. She also recognizes commercial jingles that have dogs in them and will come running from another room to bark at the dog on the screen. She’s also a great cuddler.

When we were in Puerto Rico – we learned that there is an issue with a stray dog population. Some of them, like these, are lucky to find a home with their person.

Last, I have some pictures of dogs at the beach. There is a look of pure joy on their faces as they play.

I’ll close with some lessons we can learn from dogs. There are several variations of these lessons on the web.
