Lens Artists

This week our topic is Floral hosted by Sofia. In sharing our floral photos, she has asked us to think about how we approach capturing or post processing them. In most cases, my post processing is simple using Lightroom to crop, adjust lighting, tweak colors and remove noise as needed. If noise is excessive, I will use Topaz Denoise which does an good job of keeping the detail. Occasionally, I will do a monochrome or texture edit.

My first floral is children’s art. We attended an outdoor festival and there were several activities for children including art projects. I had to take this photo quickly since there was a crowd of people around the table.

I stopped at a local coffee shop at the beach and this floral painted fence was in the back parking lot. Before a left, I snapped this photo. Look closely at the bottom of the fence and you’ll see burlap bags of coffee with plants growing out of them.

I love spring and summer and when I see the first flowers of spring, I am compelled to take a photo. These are wildflowers that were growing along a path in March. I walked past them initially, then turned around for a second look and decided to take a photo.

These flowers were on my daughter’s deck stairs. I loved the simplicity. Plus they were a birthday gift from her sons (my grandsons) which made them extra special.

Last is one I took this week. There’s an area near my house that is nothing but a field of weeds and trees but I love it especially in the spring and summer.

I could go on and on with these type of photos, but I will close here and say thanks Sofia for a great topic!

Lens Artists Challenge – Topic – Delicate

This week Ann-Christine invites us to share photos showing delicate subjects. This is a great topic that can have wide interpretation. Here is mine.

My first photo is of a jelly fish. They can cause a lot of pain if they sting but can also be fragile.

I think we can agree that if glass is dropped – it usually breaks. This is a photo of chulily glass which looks quite delicate to me.

BERJAYA

Newborns of both animals and people are delicate and need tender loving care since the cannot care for themselves.

Lens Artists Challenge

This week Patti has asked us to share about what makes us hopeful. I had a tough time narrowing this down to a few photos so I looked up the definition and found that hopeful means optimism about a future event. With that, I decided to approach it from seasonal events starting with Spring which is our current season in the U.S.

In spring, we hope for new growth from seeds, flowers, bushes and trees planted. The days are warmer and the birds are migrating back to our area.

Summer hope means 2 words to me – BEACH TIME!!

Fall is when we are hopeful for cooler temperatures and beautiful colors. In the U.S., it means that the holidays are just around the corner. My favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, is during the fall.

Winter signals the colder weather (of which I am not a big fan) but it can bring us winter birds for our area and the hope of children for a visit from St. Nick.

Most of all, I hope for peace and happiness worldwide.

I think if we asked Mother Earth, she would say “I hope that you take care of this planet and each other.”

Lens Artists Challenge

Tina is leading this week’s challenge titled To Be Young Again. Please visit her site for some beautiful photos. Our posts can include children and/or baby animals. I’ve included some teens and youthful adults as well.

I usually do not fall asleep with ease, but children and teens can do it ANYWHERE with no problem. Note that the Barbie is in the same sleeping pose as my granddaughter. The young lady with the flowers was DONE with being a bridesmaid and fell asleep on the church pew while photos were being taken of the bride and groom.

Oh to have the flexibility of youth!! These dancers and bend their bodies into pretzels.

Do you remember the excitement of your childhood firsts? These children are riding a bike and surfing for the first time. (The young surfers are twins and all grown now)

The next two photos are of my daughter and her friend. They now have children of their own but they prove you don’t have to be a child to have fun. They started doing this pose when they were in 6th grade and now it’s become a tradition every time they get together.

I’ll close this post with a few cute furry and feathered babies which we all love 🙂

Thanks Tina for a great topic!

Lens Artists Challenge

Egidio has come up with a great challenge where we are to show photos that represent “music to my eyes”. His site has wonderful examples. I’ve decided to dive into the Beatles catalog for this challenge.

First up is the song written and sung by George Harrison – Here Comes the Sun. Like the song, sunrises can be very uplifting.

Another fun song is Baby You can Drive My Car.

BERJAYA

I’m sure there have been many a chorus of the song Birthday at parties!

BERJAYA

Can you guess the next one?

BERJAYA

The last photo of birds reminds me of a more recent song Free as a Bird.

The remaining Beatles were provided with a demo that John recorded prior to his death and through the magic of studio/video technology and these great musicians, the Beatles were able to release a new song in the 1990’s. If you haven’t heard it, here’s a Youtube link
