Mom also got the results of her bone scan and MRIs. The doctor says the cancer hasn't spread, it's a stage 3(we were thinking stage 4). Still not *great*, but better than we thought. Also, she has to have another MRI tomorrow on her back. There are a couple of... compression fractures? to her spine, but Dr Janbay doesn't think it's cancer, more like something from her osteoporosis.
Anyway, this gives me a chance to show off my other new icon, a new "think warm thoughts" icon that redblack32 commissioned wolfens to make for me. Isn't it gorgeous?
Mom had her first chemo treatment Thursday, and she did pretty well. She slept through most of the treatment - - they gave her Benedryl for the side effects. And Mom had me fooled. I always thought she was the most patient person in the whole world. *I'm* the impatient one. They told her 4 hours for chemo, and she expected to be there 4 hours, even though I kept saying, that's not counting blood work, prep time, post-chemo meds, and after chemo flushing of the port. She kept asking me how much longer.
Her fatigue kicked in today, and she was sick once. Her appetite has actually been better the last few days because of the steroids she took for side effects.
And she's way paranoid about her hair. you know it didn't bother me much when I lost mine - - it upset her and J much more than me. But, like I can't wear a wig, she can't wear hats. So, we ordered a wig for her today. I offered to shave my head in solidarity with her(it would so much cooler) but she said no, I'm not allowed to cut my hair.
I *finally* watched BBM. It was as wonderful as everyone said. Heath Ledger was amazing. I already liked him, but the big surprise for me was Jake Gyllenhall, who I didn't much care for. Well, not that really, he just hadn't made an impression on me. He did here. I felt so bad for Jack, moreso than Ennis.
And while the hot cowboy sex was nice, I was just so sad for them. And for all the men(and women) that this did, and still is, happening to - - all the people who can't be truly happy because they have to pretend to be something they're not so they won't be persecuted.
J's colonoscopy is this Friday. Everyone please pray for no polyps this time. He really scared me last year.
And finally, look at my pretty new Captain Jack icon from rhymephile!
Why would anyone wait until the windiest month of the year to burn off a field, or burn trees they've pushed up? There's a fire right across the creek from us that's trying to get out of control.
In happier news, look at my smut box icon from drkcherry! LJ did a bad thing - - I have 108 user pix now. They are *so* enabling my addiction!
My Christmas spirit is returning. I was a little stressed out, trying to get all my gifts done on time. We wet Christmas shopping today. And as I told J, nothing dampens my Christmas spirit like shopping the week before Christmas. The stores were way crowded, people were rude, long lines at the checkout. Then on the way home, I checked the mail and there was a lovely Christmas card from lorelei633, which cheered me up considerably. Later, we watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas - - the *real* Boris Karloff version, and that cheered me up even more. I just did some work on my brother's scrapbook - - it should be done in time to get it in the mail by Tuesday. I need to wrap presents, which some people hate, but I love.
And this is the perfect occasion to use my Cindy Lou Who icon, courtesy of betagoddess.
Has been solved. I had misplaced a box containing my collection of snowmen. I thought I had put them in a gray plastic container and stored them with the other Christmas decorations. As usual, I was looking for something else when I found them. In a small cardboard box, nowhere near any other decorations. They *will* be going into a plastic container, a clearly marked plastic container, along with my Santa collection, and will be stored with the other decorations this time.
In other news, eek! It's less than two weeks until Christmas! And we're still not finished with our shopping.
I sent out the last batch of Christmas cards yesterday. Is there anyone who wants a card who didn't get one from me last year, or ask for one this year?
We will probably be doing the usual Christmas thing - - Christmas Eve with J's parents, Christmas Day with mine. Mom claims we're not cooking like we usually do - - she says she's going to order a meal from a deli. And in the next breath said "But I might make something for dessert". *sigh*
And here's yet another lovely icon from the very talented betagoddess!
Showing off my Lucius Potterpuff icon, courtesy of asyndeta. I'll show off my Tonks and Lucius/Narcissa one as soon as upgrade my user pix - - I'm out of space! Never would've believed it would happen.
It was a very busy weekend here. We went to a computer show Saturday and Sunday. Exhausting as it was, my husband built the gaming computer he's wanted for so long. His old one will be used for his TV recording and the internet. I was glad he was finally able to do this. Since I got sick, he hasn't been able to afford to, and it was gratifying to see him get something he's wanted for a while.
My gallbladder surgery has been moved from next Monday to next Thursday. While I'm not looking forward to more surgery, it's not that big a deal and I'll be glad to get it over with.
We saw Elektra and Blade: Trinity on PPV last week.
Elektra - - eh, it was okay. J liked it better than I did, possibly because of Jennifer Garner in her cute red outfit. I did enjoy seeing Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa and Jason Isaacs, though.
Blade, though. I loved it, not so much for Blade, but for Hannibal King. I love that character! And Ryan Reynolds was surprisingly sexy in the role. I kind of felt like Wesley Snipes just didn't give a shit anymore in this one.
And last, I'm showing off the Remus Lupin icon I made. Not happy with the text on it, but the fonts I did like couldn't be read clearly. Maybe I'll change it later.
