Still working on the pickles. This morning I rinsed the lime off, and soaked them in the refrigerator in cold water for three hours, then simmered them in vinegar, water and red food coloring for a couple of hours. Then I made the syrup - - more vinegar, water, cinnamon sticks, red hots and sugar. And let me tell you, it takes for freakin'
ever to melt those little red hots. I must've stirred for about an hour. After it came to a boil, I added the pickles and let it cool, then it went into the refrigerator for a couple of days. I tried one - - they taste pretty good so far.
Right now I'm watching Black Hawk Down for the... I forget how many times. But I can't help it, it's full of gorgeous men - - Jason Isaacs(Bald! With a southern accent!), Eric Bana, William Fichtner, baby Orlando Bloom, Ioan Griffud, Ewan McGregor, Josh Hartnett, Tom Sizemore... And interestingly, George Harris, who's playing Kingsley Shacklebolt in OotP. I always saw Kingsley as more of a Colin Salmon/Djimon Hounsou type, but if he plays Kingsley the way he plays Atto here, he might be okay.
I had to defriend one of my HP comms until after DH comes out, as it's unmoderated and people keep posting spoilers. Probably they're not for real, but it's the last book, and I do want to be surprised, even though I'm afraid it's going to be an unpleasant one.
And I've been playing with the camera today, took lots of pix, some that turned out okay, some, eh. On that note, I've started another LJ,
maddies_garden, so as not to fill up this LJ with post after post of flower pix, and so you all don't feel compelled to comment. You *are* welcome to check it out, friend it if you want, and in fact I've made it a comm, so if anyone wants to post their own pix, join and you can. I'll be posting there momentarily with soem pix from today.
We're planning on a quiet weekend here. J has work he needs to do, with the phone lines and networking, and I *have* to cut the grass and repot some flowers.
And oh yeah! The Closer is back on. I love that show. I love Kyra Sedgwick's accent, I love JK Simmons' character, and I *adore* Lt Tao. You know I love bald men.
