TV! Teacher, mother, secret lover...
With the Fall TV season upon us already, I've been mapping out my plan of attack for all the new shows I'm interested in. Of course, there are some shows I won't even bother to try simply based on the premise, and I don't watch reality (unless it's reality reality, like A&E's The First 48). I added everything into my handy desktop calendar to keep track.
I watched Sarah Michelle Gellar's new series Ringer last night, and it definitely has promise. The pilot kept me interested the entire time, and if they don't drag out too many mysteries every week and keep revealing stuff to move the plot along, I'll stick with it.
Tonight there's a preview of Christina Applegate and Will Arnett's new comedy, Up All Night at 10 p.m. on NBC. It moves into its regular Wednesday at 8 p.m. spot on September 21. Okay, it's a comedy about having kids, which I don't, but I like both of them so I'll try it. Why can't someone make a comedy about an out-of-work TV lover with a cat and an obsession with genre TV?
Tomorrow Archer returns to FX for only three weeks (WTF?) at 10 p.m. Pam (see icon) is my hero.
I'm sure everyone on Tumblr (I say this because every time I'm linked to something on Tumblr, inevitably I see "Hi I'm so-and-so and I'm 16 SQUEE!") is going to be watching Kevin Williamson's new teenage witchcraft drama, The Secret Circle, premiering tomorrow at 9 after his other teen vampire lovefest, Vampire Diaries. I tried watching VD from the beginning, and I simply can't get into it. I watched like five episodes and it never improved. Based on the preview, I see that Gale Harold will be playing a significant role in The Secret Circle. FYI Gale lovers.
Next week is when a lot of the new stuff premieres, so I'll make a separate post as those shows come on. And this weekend is the Emmys, which I might be interested to see, if only because I hope Justified's Margo Martindale wins. She's popping up on CBS's A Gifted Man on September 23 at 8 p.m. It looks like shit but I'll try the pilot to see her.
Here's the awesome grid from The Futon Critic.com which allows you see what's coming up. The reason I like this grid is because it gives you both broadcast and cable premieres.
