Wednesday on Saturday

BERJAYA

Finally - I caught up with series #2 of the wonderful Wednesday, with another "geek viewing" afternoon at John-John's. Utterly superb!

Such a wealth of good actors in this show - Jenna Ortega's superb in the title role, Catherine Zeta-Jones gives even Anjelica Huston a run for her money as "Morticia", there's a surprising return for the magnificent Gwendoline Christie as "Principal Weems" (who was definitely dead in series #1), and I was particularly taken with Evie Templeton as newcomer "Agnes"...

...but [and I'm with Mistress Maddie on this one} it is Dame Joanna Lumley as granny "Hester Frump" who really steals the show in every scene in which she appears! Here's a little taster:

Oh - and among the raft of interesting music played on the soundtrack - this!

Essential viewing, methinks.

Falling on my head like a new emotion

BERJAYA

It's like a bloody monsoon out there! Topping off a truly miserable July, August's started in much the same depressing fashion.

To top it all, this evening our gang is booked to see La Cage Aux Folles...

...at the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park!

Here's a most appropriate song for the day:

Keep your fingers crossed, dear reader, that it clears up this evening for the show!

Falling on my head like a new emotion

BERJAYA

This week is dragging, and our brief respite from the dreadful weather which meant yesterday was quite spring-like is apparently about to be broken, with a cold front from the Atlantic on its way...

Let's have another timeslip moment - a trip back to 1984 again, for a most appropriate song for today from the Eurythmics!

Fabulous.

We're off to another LGBT History Month event tonight, curated by the fabulous Petrie Museum of Egyptology, called Defining Desire: labels and sex in ancient and modern worlds, so at least that is something to look forward to!
