Happy Channukah to all those who celebrate it, may your lives be full of light. (I'm late, I know) Also happy St Nicholas Day to those who celebrate it, may your shoes be full of chocolate!

I made it to work and back today! It took me two hours to get there this morning but just the normal time to get back and I am ridiculously glad I don't have a car anymore as there was absolute traffic hell today. (People were building snowmen on the hard shoulder, they were that gridlocked.)

I did not make my writing target for November :(

Since last time I posted a word count I have written 3295 words. Leaving me at:

7263 / 10000

for November, which isn't a bad total either on weekly or monthly basis. And really good considering how busy last month was...

The End Has A Start (Merlin: Gwen, Morgause)
The Beginning is the End is the Beginning (Merlin: Gwen, Merlin)
A Review of Two Short Films for [community profile] shortfilms
Ten for 2010: French Wives (Article about a new Scottish band for the grown up blog)
Ten for 2010: Frightened Rabbit (Article about a new Scottish band for the grown up blog)
And my [profile] merlinfemfest fic, which hasn't been released yet.

Bringing my total for the year so far to:

46674 / 100000

Not even at the half way point yet... :( Though pretty much exactly where I was this time last year, maybe 60,000 words is just where I plateau writing wise for a year? I'd need to write around 2200 words a day to make my target now...And I've still not written any stories that qualified for my [community profile] 12in2010 challenge, I just don't have the creative energy for long fic these days I guess. Unless either my yuletide or my camelot solstice fics end up being epic I don't see that happening either...

"You'll always be mine, always and never. Never. The Fire, baby. It'll burn us both. It'll kill us both. There's no place in this world for our kind of fire. Always and never. If I have to die for you tonight, I will."
- Sin City

Rimmer: "Kryten, it's called a hangover, don't panic."
Lister: "We're on a mining ship, three million years into deep space... can someone explain to me where the smeg I got this traffic cone?"
The Cat: "Hey! It's not a good night unless you get a traffic cone! It's the police woman's helmet and the suspenders I don't understand! "

The Operative: "That girl will rain destruction down on you and your ship. She is an albatross, Captain."
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "Way I remember it, albatross was a ship's good luck, 'til some idiot killed it."

"You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself."

"Smell is the most powerful memory trigger there is. A certain flower or a whiff of smoke can bring up experiences long forgotten. Books smell - musty and rich. The knowledge gained from a computer has no texture, no context. It's there and then it's gone. If it's to last, then the getting of knowledge should be tangible. It should be smelly."
- Giles, BTVS

Creativity is... viewing the world from a different angle. Taking things from everyday life that otherwise might seem mundane and go un-noticed, and turning them into something beautiful. Finding beauty where there seems to be none and changing the perceptions of others so they can see that beauty too. Making something out of seemingly nothing...

"They have not wanted Peace at all; they have wanted to be spared war -- as though the absence of war was the same as peace."
- Dorothy Thompson

"Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free."
- Dalai Lama

"First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me."
- Pastor Martin Niemöller

"History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again."
- Maya Angelou
