DOUBLE OUR PLEASURE

BERJAYA

that had come to visit us
a few months ago at one of the beaches nearby.

BERJAYA

Jim headed directly from the parking lot across the road
safely perched on the embankment as
SNOWY OWL
flew to the top of a tree.

BERJAYA

OK Jim, let's get moving
follow me to the beach and
please be careful of that road you are walking on!

BERJAYA

Sheesh!
 You'd think that SNOWY OWL
was something special or something.

BERJAYA

Just for a change we decided to take a new/old path
because, well, we just wanted to.

BERJAYA

Good decision!
Because as I sat snuggled next to Jim,
Ron went down on the sand and discovered
SNOWY OWL #2

BERJAYA

nestled quietly by him/herself
wondering I'm sure if we would disappear
as quickly as we arrived.

BERJAYA

No chance of me disturbing our discovery.

BERJAYA

Jim took his turn,
working slowly down and around the viewing area.

BERJAYA

After an unexpected flight closer to the houses,
Jim got his pictures  and returned.

BERJAYA

Unexpected pleasures can be doubled in the wink of an eye.
If we hadn't taken the new/old path, well,
SNOWY OWL #2
wouldn't have become part of memory.

LIFE & DEATH

BERJAYA
The wind is fierce today folks
so we knew we had to go to the beach!
BERJAYA
Rounding the corner heading to Lawrencetown Beach
BERJAYA
we knew that our visit would be a special one
BERJAYA
out of the car
up over the grassy dunes
and
onto the rocky shore
as close as we dare
BERJAYA
the beach felt deserted
BERJAYA
as the surf churned wave after wave
BERJAYA
and yes I was on my Doodle mission to sniff out anything
BERJAYA
after the shoreline was literally pounded with this wave action
BERJAYA
I did however miss this
Ron told me after the walk
that he came upon this seagull
which must have been overtaken
by nature's upset
BERJAYA
yet across the street from the parking lot
were these birders
very focussed on what I thought were these crows
(seemed strange indeed)
BERJAYA

I looked back across the street
for one last look at the surf

BERJAYA

and there s/he was
an adolescent Snowy Owl

BERJAYA

 by that time
the place was filling with birders
and the owl decided things were getting a little too close

BERJAYA

so up high on top of a telephone pole s/he rousted
(I'm sure thinking that people can be very odd at times)

Today was the full spectrum of
Life & Death
even though I was shielded from the latter.

That's OK folks!
I've come across the remains of critters before
and am totally fine with that!
