Generally speaking, Jason hates magic shit. With a passion. But this time. This time he can admit to being amused. Not so much at being turned into an Irish Wolf Hound pup (which he won't admit is reasonably bad assed) but watching Bruce try to deal with the six of them running around, knocking stuff over and generally being hairy little brats.
Okay, so Drake isn't being a brat. He's busy with the computer OF COURSE, though how he managed to get it work with paws is something Jason will have to bug him about later. And the sight of the Spore as a Miniature Doberman Pincer is absolutely priceless. He has no doubt Damian is beyond pissed, which just makes it all the better.
Large, hairy paws make no sound on the rock as Puppy!Jason does a circuit of the Cave. Part of him is taking stock of how it's changed and what he might want to get his hands on latter, but most of him is thinking about what he can get into that would annoy the fuck out of Bruce. Hmmmm, the armoury if locked up tight. Damnit. Maybe he could get Puppy!Drake to help him with that. Oh shiny thing!
The little puppy puts on an awkward burst of speed as he race towards a bit o f sheet metal leaning against a work bench. The surface is highly polished and reflective. Which means he can see another scruffy puppy right there, in HIS territory! Puppy!Jason starts barking and putting on a ferocious (well in his wee mind it is) display of dominance! But the other puppy is mirroring him which is fucking annoying! So he charges and....bonks his nose on the metal.
Shaking his head, the puppy looks around. Had anyone seen that? No? Oh good.
And...oh. Uh. Well it kind of makes sense that after all that activity he'd need to take a piss, but where should he do his business? The puppy mind is pointing out that there are LOTS of cars to choose from, but Jason doesn't like that idea. You don't disrespect such sweet rides. So he waddles along looking around. There!
If a puppy could smirk, the little wolf hound would be doing jussssst that.

The great and fearsome Bat is feeling anything but as he lets out a gusty sigh. It's been a long night. It's going to get a lot longer. At least Mxyzptlk is back where he belongs. Unfortunately that same can't be staid for Bruce's assorted charges, past and present. He winces as something goes crash somewhere to the right of giant penny. Sure enough a happy little Brittany Spaniel puppy skitters past as Miniature Doberman Pincer puppy gives determined chase.
Dick. And Damian.
Tim is accounted for too. The Black Lab puppy is sitting quietly on the computer chair watching something on the screen. Something from youtube, and no Bruce doesn't want to thank about HOW the boy--puppy--got that up.
The girls are...where? Gotham's protector looks around. could they have left the Cave? No, no, there's Stephanie, the Golden Retriever puppy being perched on top of the mechanical T-Rex. Of course. Cassandra is over on the trampoline, trying to make it bounce. But the Boxer pup isn't quite heavy enough to manage it.
That just leaves...
There is no way the liquid could get through his armoured reinforced Kevlar composite, so he can't feel it, but he knows. He knows. When he looks down there is Jason. The scruffy little Irish Wolf Hound puppy relieving himself on Bruce's booted foot.
This is only temporary, Blood promised him. But what does "only temporary" mean to one who is functionally immortal?
Yes, it's going to be a VERY long night.

It's not easy being Brucie Wayne, playboy billionaire. And Batman, protector of Gotham. And Bruce Wayne, CEO and somewhat non-traditional family man. There have been times when he’s let one role take precedence, to the detriment of many he cared for. Or his city. Sometimes himself, though he can be honest enough to admit that's one he doesn't really think about.
The thing is, for all that he still sometimes falls into the same old trap (and then it is often the Bat that wins out), he has learned. He understands the equilibrium required to maintain the various aspects of his personality.
It's not that he's three different people, though sometimes he does think of it in those terms. It’s easy to think like that. And dangerous. He knows that now, so when it happens, he does his best to stop and reconsider whatever is meandering through his mind.
No, it's that he is a complex person who lives in a complex world, where the desire to simplify is powerfully seductive. It would be so much easier if he were just Batman, but if that were true, it would be very limiting. There are places that Batman can't go, things he can't do. To try to remove the other part of his person would be to hamstring the Bat. It would make him far less effective, and that would be unacceptable. It's taken him a long time to figure that one out.
Dick has said it to him a number of times: for the world’s greatest detective, he's not all that swift. Of course, Bruce will never admit that his eldest son is right. Not out loud. But to himself, he holds the words dear, using them to ground himself. When he remembers.
Shaking his head, he plasters on Brucie's painfully fake smile and grins to Damian. “Showtime, Tiger.” When Alfred opens the door, the youngest member of the Wayne family hurries out, as though he fears Brucie's inanity might be contagious. Perhaps he's right, or perhaps it's an inherited trait, in which case the boy is most definitely doomed.
Just for good measure, Brucie puts an arm about Damian's shoulders and gives him the full strength of his vapid smile when the boy glares at him. Having a wee bit of fun is also an important part of the balancing act that is his life.

The door creaks open. He doesn't need this. He has a fucking head cold. It feels like his sinuses are trying to pound their way out of his skull. And everything ACHES. He also vividly remembers what happened the LAST time he'd been sick. No, so not going there again.
So when Dick pokes his head through the door, it's to find a very large gun levelled at him. “I just brought some soup,” the acrobat offers, with what for him is probably a cautious smile as he holds up the covered pot. The expression is still FAR to damned happy. Jason considers shooting him on principle.
Tim and Colin (and Damian)
They watch as the little fuzzball zooms by, followed by a very determined and grim Damian. There's a crash from the other room, then the kitten is dashing through the kitchen again. Followed by Damian. Again. Who now seems to be favouring his left leg and is definitely not keeping up.
“I told him I'd help with bathing,” Colin explains calmly as they watch the pair.
Tim nods and does a credible job of not snickering as the kitten again barrels across the linoleum and Damian utterly fails to make the turn. Instead he raises his hand and coughs. Discreetly. Alright, maybe not that discreet, given the way the redhead is eyeing him and trying not to laugh himself.
Bruce and Alfred
“No. I don't have time.”
“Really now, sir,” come the admonishing words.
“I said--”
“Frankly sir, I don't care what you said. Either you go to Damian's school play, or some very unfortunate things will be happening to your suits.” He gives the man a meaningful look, so that he knows exactly which suits the butler was talking about.
Damian and Stephanie
“Shut up you witch!” Damian shrieks indignantly, his temper fraying. The girl's incessant nattering was just too much!
“Awww, but it was so adorable! Damian and Colin sitting in a tree--”
“It wasn't a tree!”
Stephanie smirks. “No, it was auxiliary cave nine. Where there are 27 different cameras. Wanna guess where those feeds went?” She dodges with a snicker as Damian launches himself her way, his eyes dark and murderous.

He let me sleep too long. I knew he would, so it’s useless to be annoyed, but I am anyhow. Dick tries—is trying?—hard to lighten my mood, though I don’t think I’m acting particularly traumatized. Alfred does the same in his own way. He hasn’t made a cheeseburger pizza for me in almost a year.

Has anyone read this? I have to say that the art wasn't my cup of tea and I found it rather distracting. But that aside, the story is interesting and well written. It looks like one thing, then there is a small detail and it becomes another. And of course it has Some Timmy and Dick time! W00t!

Okay, as promise, it's the 12th and I've rebooted the Broodingbat LJ.
Having talked with my existing muns, here is the "setting" that we've come up with.

In talking to mithen she offered a different understanding of the events of RoBW06. And honestly, I like her version a LOT better. I like the idea of Bruce triumphing not only because of his own choices, but because on of those choices was to realize and rely on the support of his friends. I mean it's about TIME you stubborn bat!
But...I don't think that's what Morrison means. I SOOOOO wish it was, but I suspect it's wishful thinking. Now, I'm not going to begrudge anyone that wants to read it that way, since such a technique is a very viable tool for retaining one's sanity when reading comics. Myself, I'm intending to pretty much ignore everything after Bat and Son.
All that said, I need to vent because Morrison pisses me off. It's pretty well known that Morrison wanted/wants Bruce to be a New God (the new incarnation of Orion?) but that the Editorial has nixed that one. So instead he's writing it without actually coming out and SAYING it. And this annoys me, because Bruce is a MAN. He's the epitome on human achievement, yes, but still a man. this is what makes his accomplishments so very epic. But making him MORE then a man, those accomplishments are down graded.

I mentioned in my last post that I AM a theist and I DO understand a lot of Morrison's esoteric ideas. But unlike him and a lot of people for that matter, I don't see being human as a bad thing, as something to move on from. So there you have it. That's the source of my rage.
Let Bruce be the World's Greatest Detective, let me him the human that walks among gods. And let him shine as he is, a man, who has pushed himself to be the very best he can be. Because ultimately that's something the reader can strive for, and what makes the story of Batman so powerful and iconic.
So, now I've said my piece. I'll just wait for Morrison to leave the batbooks and hope that we can return to the status quo of crime and detective stories.

I don't know how many people know here, but I run a character LJ for Bruce called broodingbat . It's had two incarnations so far and both with just a collection of character LJs commenting on each other, sometimes an RP log being posted. However, at the moment, a number of teh muns I was playing with have become involved with 
dcu6wordstories (which is a lovely dressingroom RP comm, but is to big/fast for me) and as a result the play with Broodingbat has died.
And while I don't have time to play in DCU6WS any more, I would like to get back to playing Bruce via the Broodingbat LJ. I've already posted my intentions on Broodingbat, but in the name of covering my bases, I'm going to post it here too.
I'm wanting to know if the current muns have time/interest for picking up where we left off. If not, that's fine. Things happen, life gets busy and people move on. But I need to know that too. If people are wanting to move on, then I'll see what characters are then available and put out an open casting call for muns.
So this is just me asking who is (still) interested in playing some very low key character interactions on LJ.

Okay, so I've been hanging out of fan boards again. No I haven't been posting. At least I've been able to restrain myself that much.
Anyhow I found a link to an interview with Morrison. And in it he was asked what happens to Dick after Bruce comes back. His reply was:
"This is the big launch after "The Return of Bruce Wayne," so I don't want to say too much, but it's a completely new take on the Batman status quo. It's like that scene where Damian asks, what happens when Bruce Wayne comes back? We don't get to be Batman and Robin? Because I felt, and I think readers felt that they were really cool as Batman and Robin, and you don't want to lose them straightaway. So you'll see what happens."
I'm sitting here, thinking how they could change the status quote. It seems kind of obvious that it would be to go to a BatMEN scenario, with Dick remaining in the cowl along with Bruce but.... This is Morrison and I don't trust anything to be that simple. Or logical. So I'm just going to sit here and wait because......GAH! That man keeps doing terrible things to my birdies!
Then we have Batman 698. No, I'm not going to give you spoilers of anything. This time my comments are on to bits of art detail. The first was in one panel that is basically a horisonal flip of the cover for Return of the Dark Knight by Frank Miller. This worries me. A LOT. Given what happens to Dick in the squeal The Dark Knight Strikes Again. My worry is then compounded on the next page were, among the graffiti we find Zur En Arrh. And seeing that that feature so prominently in R.I.P. which was ALL about deconstructing Batman.... Yeah, I'm starting to panic a bit.
We've already done Crutches/Renegade. Let poor Dick do

However in browsing htmlcomics, I happened to stumble on the Superman/Batman V2 Annual 1. Holy crap! I'm giggling myself to death over this. It's so much LOVELY crack :) And it has the Slade *I* love. As well as the Boys bickering as they are want to do. Hehe hehe.....HEHEHEHE!!!!!
By all means check it out. However some of the splash pages a little hard to read on the site, so you might want to find an alternate source.
