A Hodgepodge-less Wednesday....

Our usual Wednesday Hodgepodge hostess is way out west with her two girls, having loads of fun, I'm sure.  She promises to be back next week!!  Happy Easter, Joyce & #1 and #2!!

Well, I made it through the entire day at work yesterday.  Got payroll done and lots of catching up. Started to fade around 3:30 so I got a cup of coffee.  When I got home, I told Joe I wasn't cooking... he took me to Sonny's for BBQ.  (I really can't taste or smell yet, so ate the BBQ knowing how good it must taste.)

When we got home, I made the guest room bed up for my Sis and her hubby!  They are coming!!  Tammy called their home health care nurse and the nurse told her if I was feeling better each day, taking antibiotics and took care with proper cold etiquette, that going to Walmart was more dangerous for Bruce than coming to our house for the weekend!!  Yay!!

Tonight will be grocery runs (Sam's Club and Publix).  I need to get Easter fixin's and lay in some eats for Friday and Saturday too.  Friday afternoon, we are riding over to St. Pete to meet with Bruce's sister and her companion for lunch.  They are wintering over there.  I've never met Gretchen so we are looking forward to that little reunion.  No plans for Saturday, so we will play it by ear. It all depends on how Bruce is doing.  One way or the other, we will enjoy each other's company!!

I saw these on Pinterest and would love to try them...but I know I won't! Ha!  So cute, though!

Easter Sunday, Helen and Cheryl will join us for dinner.  I have Easter baskets for all of them - always fun!  Helen is bringing dessert so I don't need to worry about that, even though there will be enough candy for a week of desserts!

What is a favorite Easter memory you can share here?  I loved having to look for our Easter baskets.  Dad always hid mine so it would be hard to find....I was the oldest.  Our baskets always had new anklets and gloves for church and sometimes a necklace to go with our new Easter dresses. We weren't allowed any candy until after church.  Grandpa always had a corsage for "his girls".  Those were the days.  I'm so glad I grew up in a different time.  Sigh.

Thanks again for all the prayers and good thoughts.  I'm sorry to be such a whiner. So many are fighting for their lives and I'm belly-aching over a cold.  I know how blessed I am.  Peace & hugs!

Oh how I miss Sonny's, sigh. Liam, since he is 20 now, could careless about getting a basket...although he still gets one, lol. I get to spoil my/our little niece(??), Zoe this time around. I do believe the Easter Bunny has been good to her, lolol.

Have a beautiful day, friend. smiles

My 18yo is bummed cause I told him I wasn't making him a basket this year but he will get over it. I don't need all that chocolate in the house.
Glad your sister is still going to visit and you are feeling better.
    Have a great day!

My favorite Easter memory is going to the grandparents house for Egg Hunts with the cousins. So glad you got the go ahead from Home Health. I agree, there are more germs on any given door knob than we care to think about!!

Oh, I loved your sweet Easter memories...brought back some of my own...like the year my brother knocked my basket off the counter and broke all of my freshly dyed eggs...and my Momma started over and made me more. ;-) (thinking back, I believe he did it on purpose...bad boy) Glad you're feeling better each day and your sister will be able to visit, after all...YAY!!! Happy Wednesday, sweet lady...keep improving!

So wonderful that you sis and hubby are getting to come for Easter!! When I was a little girl my favorite thing was I always got a new 'outfit' for Easter. New dress, shoes, gloves, a little purse and a hat. So long ago!!

What sweet memories. We always got a new outfit and shoes and an Easter basket. We dyed eggs for the hunt but, as we got older, we wanted a purse instead of a basket. I love the traditions of your family, Teri. So sweet. And I'm delighted for you that your sister and husband are able to come. Yay!

I LOVE that your family hid the Easter baskets too. That is my family's tradition since I was a little girl, and we still do it with our adult sons who live here. They would be horrified if we forgot to do that! it's always so much fun trying to find the best hiding place for a big basket of candy! We are never too old to have that kind of fun with our family. I am so happy your sis and husband get to come for the weekend. I know you will be so happy to have them, and also to "show off" your new home and use your new guest room! such fun!! Happy for you. Praying you will feel better and better every day. Enjoy your family. Oh, also, Easter tradition, yes, new dress, gloves, and white shoes usually, purse. My mother often made my dresses. Yes, those were the days.

I'm SO glad to hear your sis and Bruce are coming down, after all!
Scratching my head, trying to recall any olden Easter memories. Aside from a new pair of shoes, socks and hat, I only recall the children's egg-hunt after church services. (I was more the 'tom-boy' than a femme back then.) To tell the truth, Maundy Thursday services made more of an impact on me than did Easter Sunday.

Sounds like you have a good Easter to look forward to. I'm sorry you've had another cold to deal with.

I came home from our trip with a slight cold. I think I kissed Hunter too much - he was sneezing and snotty. Also, my ears have not opened completely since our last flight. So I'm not feeling 100%.

I'm glad you are feeling better and that Bruce and Tammy are coming!
I will be working this year on Easter, but we are having a potluck at work.

I don't think you are whining about being sick! I hope you feel much better soon though! Easter baskets for my children always included a new outfit, an Easter DVD and a little chocolate lamb. If I could find a stuffed animal lamb I picked that up also. They also included some small toys or art/craft supplies. Have a blessed Easter!
