The plot is honestly pretty solid, the characters are enjoyable, distinct, and creative. Show has a lot of its own identity and doesn't just rely on generic settings and tropes. Pacing is nice, and they have a balanced ratio of comedy-action-emotional scenes.
If you're okay with ecchi? I recommend it. If you're *looking* for ecchi? I definitely recommend it. If you're averse to ecchi? best avoid.

But the one thing that makes this stand-out to me? It's the only modern anime I've seen willing to use fanservice like they did back in the 2000s/2010s. It feels like I'm watching Highschool DxD or Infinite Stratos again.

I personally feel ...

Man where do I even start with Twin Star Exorcists. I went in expecting just another shonen with cool exorcist fights and some romance fluff but 50 episodes later I am sitting here feeling like I actually lived through something. It is rare for a long running series to keep its soul intact all the way through but this one did. It genuinely felt like a journey.

Rokuro and Benio start off so normal. Not in the chosen one way that feels fake but like actual teenagers who got thrown into this insane world of ayakashi and onmyouji stuff. Rokuro is hot headed kinda dumb in ...

A teen drama with a thousand topics to discuss with your friends.

Ramparts of Ice has become one of the best anime to introduce you to the drama genre. Drama is often a difficult genre to get into at first, mainly because it's associated with sadness and constant crying. When you watch Ramparts, you realize that a drama can be lighthearted and you begin to understand what dramatic weight is. In that sense, this can be your gateway to a truly beautiful genre. As for the story, we have high school students living their lives, with all that this entails, both joys and sorrows. Each episode ...

Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song is a fairly quick and speedy sci-fi show that is able to produce emotions that some show's can't in double its runtime. It manages to make you care about people that are not around for very long but can related to at least on a fundamental level in some way. This show's greatest strength is definitely its ability to emotionally invest you into the characters you meet and the dire situations they find themselves in.

Vivy is semi-episodic in nature, mainly because the individual stories (or mini-arcs) do connect to the overall story but do not fully connect to each other save ...

Back in the Before Times, there was a really fun Biker Girl anime called Bakuon! The Cute Girls Doing Things genre was pumping out so many titles that some people saw this and decided to pass. It’s unfortunate, because this is quite a good show. Another Girls on Motorcycles anime- but a very different thing to Bakuon.

Rather than a bubbly goofball; this one is about a girl who apparently has nothing at all- parents are gone and she lives in the town’s only public housing allotment- which is a couple of blocks up on a hill from a country road. She is a gloomy ...

The source material is a plagiarist's loose Japanese adaptation of Salem's Lot by Stephen King. -1
That said, Salem's Lot is just a mediocre modern ripoff of Dracula by Bram Stoker from the perspective of those who stayed in the city while Jonathan Harker went to go send Dracula off to become their neighbor. And frankly, Shiki is by far probably the best adaptation of Salem's Lot to date, and the anime does plenty artistically in its own right, so you could certainly do a lot worse than this, which is better than even most Dracula adaptations.

It's ok despite its many flaws.

The anime tells an amazing story, but it is unfinished. Each story should have exposition, an inciting incident, rising action, a climax, and a resolution. This is basic stuff. However, this title lacks the last two elements in the main characters’ storyline. I do understand that the anime is really slow, and this is not a con, especially considering how well it is implemented and written in this case.

However, when I finished watching the show, I did not feel satisfied at all because everything was leading to the climax, but they just decided to finish the season. There is also not much material for a ...

I've been on a pretty hardcore rom-com kick lately, and this ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the season. There have been some fantastic romance series recently, and *I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class* managed to stand out by avoiding a lot of the usual clichés that the genre tends to lean on.

One of my favorite aspects was the main character. He was genuinely kind, curious, and easy to root for, and I liked that he had a friend group that wasn't built entirely around romance. His dynamic with Maki and Umi felt natural and heartfelt, and ...

I'm not going to lie. In the beginning I was not happy at all with the changes from the source material. Thanks to season 1 I read the whole webnovel. I also read a lot of the webtoon until I couldn't bear re-lliving some things that I won't spoil.

So I felt they were creating filler episodes where they didn't need any.

However. I realized something... Maybe... just maybe... The horrible moments that I didn't want to re-experience might also change. And we might have a paralel universe kind of situation. It wouldn't suck if some of the characters I came to love manage to ...

Sweet without giving you a toothache. There are a few chances I would have liked to see. The "student teacher" relationships are presented a little too seriously but so far it's not that big a deal. I kinda wish maybe he caught the eye of someone his own age and there's certainly no reason he couldn't. Maybe a merchant who think's she's an old maid. Or a seamstress whose time has come. Or heck even a bladesmith or blacksmith so they could have something in common.

The more impressive part is everything else a protagonist that's compelling, animation that's good to look at and a ...

This is truly a special experience. Not because it has some otherworldly animation, or first of its kind plot. It is special because it takes a very, very mundane idea, and turns it into something magical.

“Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You” is the warmest perspective of being an adult. Finding a place between breaking your back over hard work, and finding solace where you can.
Two strangers cross paths and share a calm moment over a cigarette. As they do, they find themselves replenished by the warmth two adults can offer one another. Whether it’s playful teasing, or genuine advice; a small crush or someone ...

I've only watched the OVA and the first movie, I guess from what I've read maybe I should've watched the series too before jumping in to this second movie? Nonetheless, excerpt from FAKEANIMEGIRL's review represented my thoughts really well:

"If Japan’s political issues don’t hold much relevance to you, this movie’s implied emotional undercurrent gained by association will barely expose itself."

I think my unfamiliarity with Japan's political issue at the time really made me feel underwhelmed with this one. I *think* I get the message, reading several thoughts & reviews of this validated my understanding of the film. But somehow it just didn't hit me just ...

Simple and Wholesome.

There's no conflict; it represents the peaceful, funny, and loving everyday life of a girl who doesn't have to worry about anything. It's recommended for people who want to relax and enjoy a cute and mundane isekai where nothing will actually make you feel worried or anxious.

Character design 5/5
Beautiful colours, their "clans" are well represented, both in their original and human forms.
Having a demon officer who's a fly was very smart and original.
The references they make to other things in real life, or games, were also witty in a good way.

Music 3.5/5
The opening song is a bit chaotic, which ...

TLDR: good at making you feel bad (in a good way? probably) just trust and watch past the first few episodes

Calling this show bittersweet would be similar to calling an apple a fruit. perhaps, its more similar to calling a tomato a fruit because, after finishing, i feel much more bitter. If you wish to watch a show that definitively will cause you to stare at the blank screen, after the last episode, contemplating suffering like the Buddha (very much so the mood i was in), stop reading reviews and just watch it ( its okay to finish mine though ( •̯́ ^ •̯̀) ). ...

Why? Why make an adaption of the sequel series first?

This may come as a surprise to certain people, as Kingdom of Caliburn is currently not listed on MAL as of writing this review, but Kingdom of Ruin is a spin-off series to Kingdom of Caliburn.

I discovered the series that came before because something honestly didn’t add up when I watched Kingdom of Ruin, but if I were to put that into words, I honestly felt as if Kingdom of Ruin skipped some essential world building that in turn was important to understanding and potentially even enjoying Kingdom of Ruin. This led me to looking at ...

The final stretch of the most popular superhero anime of the last decade has finally begun.

My Hero Academia Season 7 marks the true beginning of the story's conclusion. After years of building up the threat posed by All For One and Tomura Shigaraki, the series finally enters its decisive war. This season focuses far more on setting the stage for the final showdown than on introducing new concepts; while it features excellent moments, it also highlights various narrative issues the series has accumulated over the years.

Right from the opening episodes, we are introduced to the clash between Star and Stripe, the United States' number-one hero, ...

I’ve always held *Heroic Academy* in high regard; in the race for the new “Big Three,” I’ve ranked it among the top three. The author took Marvel’s superhero concept and gave it a very distinct Japanese twist. It seems like such a simple idea, but it has enormous potential. And the author managed to fully realize it. The main character is just a little bit annoying, but his journey from a whiner to a hero is, at the very least, interesting to watch. He analyzes and understands his weaknesses well. Everything we love about anime—school tropes, parent-child relationships, and tournament arcs—is here. As for the ...

The story here is pretty average and predictable, relying heavily on the clear trope of an unpopular boy with a popular girl, though this time it adds a love triangle into the mix. It still hits all the mandatory rom-com milestones like going to the fireworks and the school festival, the pacing is not too bad overall, making it easy to digest.

I liked the two main female characters. Amane was my favorite. Around the later episodes, the girls get some much-needed background story, which adds some character building.

Where the show struggles the most is the visual presentation and how it wraps things up. The animation ...

The first season had an impact on me when I was a teenager and many many years later, the impact was big enough that I did remember how interesting this anime was even though I have forgotten 99% of the animes i've watched when I was younger. Subaru has never been an interesting character. Call it the "Isekai disease" but these characters tend to be random losers we know nothing about and because they were hikikomoris, their lives are dull and uninteresting. The point of the genre is to forget that life and live another life in another world. We were unaware of Subaru's ...

If you like a slow-burn style romance-esque style anime then this one is chill and nice. It does do the same thing that a lot of smokers do though, and that is idolize smoking but to each their own.

I think the shorter episodes worked -incredibly- well for something like this. I have seen other slice of life animes that feel like they draaaag on because there isn't too much substance within the show, so having 5-15 minute episodes felt really easy to sit through and enjoy.

They make the joke that the male MC is pretty dense but damn.. he really can't pick up on context ...

Agents of the Four Seasons was one of the most disppointing series of the season. Because with a lot of shows, you usually know what you get. If I watch the new Isekai, I don't expect much. But this show at least tried to imply early on that it wanted to do something unique and not just go the same route every other show takes. And there were moments where it was able to achieve what it wanted to. However, most of the time, the ideas fell flat for me and that had mostly to do with how the writers decided to present us this ...

Interesting premise and lovely character interactions. Bonus points for having a closed ending.

The way characters use their power is very interesting. The best parts of the anime are easily the protag thinking mid-fight how to deal with the enemy.
Also love how anyone introduced can just die.
Most of the show consists of great interactions and interesting use of powers, but there are some strange storytelling decisions.

The plot wants you to think about the main "mystery", but it's hard to take it seriously when non-sensical things are done to progress the story.
One that happens early on, despite getting invitations to meet someone directly, the protagonist decided to ...

This shit... was so ass. Every single character sucks, they're all beyond stupid, and that makes all the twists and reveals that happen fall flat completely. Don't watch this if you value your time. I watched years ago and I am STILL pissed off about it. It's a testament to how bad this show is.

The show has so many characters that it can't really flesh them out very well, and when it tries, it fails to make them interesting. They all have their own individual traumas, and it even has an intersex character, which is some cool representaion. Too bad that cahracter is as boring ...

I just read an “I watched 3 episodes and i know the anime sucks” review where they talk about how this “isn’t FMA/FMAB quality even though I didn’t like FMA/FMAB that much anyway” and i have to say…. What? What are you even talking about, duh it’s not FMA, it’s a whole new story and world. Saying this is not good because it’s not what you expected from the FMA author is an absolutely bonkers take. This anime is great, and more than that it’s ORIGINAL! Its a completely new and original idea, not some rework of the same old same old like 90% of ...

It's slow and character-driven. It's not an action anime, so if you're looking for a swords & demons type of show, skip.

Now that that's out of the way, wow this was a ride. I went in expecting temu Kimetsu No Yaiba and I found something wholly unique with wonderful and well-written characters and an overarching plot that keeps you invested. It's a monster-of-the-week format, where each episode is tied to a demon or other supernatural occurrence that focuses on a specific part of the human experience. They don't really half-ass it or crybait either, each character and their struggle is realistic, without falling into typical ...

Fun? Definitely. High-quality animation? That’s a whole different story. Haha.

Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Part 2 delivers exactly what fans expected in terms of entertainment: charismatic characters, plot twists, plenty of hype, and a memorable fight. Unfortunately, it also lays bare one of the franchise's biggest issues regarding its anime adaptation: the animation itself.

This second part adapts the clash between Buddha and Zerofuku, one of the manga's most interesting battles up to that point. Right off the bat, the story breaks one of the seemingly immutable premises of Ragnarok. Instead of yet another bout between a god and a human, we get a confrontation between ...

This anime isn't as good as I expected. But I need to be brutally honest anyway. When the first season of of this anime dropped, it left audiences with a sense of cozy feeling. It executed the slow-burn, "will-they-won't-they" trope with a decent plot structure and enough charm to marks itself as a comforting romance staple. The expectation for Season 2 itself is indeed high, with our main couple officially dating. Unfortunately this sequel completely misses the mark, delivering a plot that replaces genuine progression with a depressingly loop of eventless monotony. It's kinda disappointing sequel that ultimately feels like a massive waste of time.

I don’t necessarily want to call this a waste of a great premise, because all things considered this is a fairly enjoyable comedy show, but when you start to think about the greater potential of the show it’s hard to not fantasize about what could’ve been. The idea of showcasing a world where the final boss had already been defeated and how the resulting aftermath isn’t so much an era of peace, but rather one of recession, is actually fascinating and because this ends up being sidelined for what’s essentially small/mid tier business vs Walmart I can’t help but feel at least a little disappointed.

We’re jumping into the world of Steel Angel Kurumi again with 4 OVA episodes that serve as a direct sequel but let’s be honest and say it’s truly an epilogue of the original steel angel Kurumi series because that is what it truly feels.

However in most epilogues from my experience in the anime world, they tend to be a little more on the comedic unhinged side of things, but for steel angel Kurumi I’m actually very surprised and in fact pleased that three of the four OVA episodes focuses on giving each of the main three steel angels some heartfelt character development that feels ...

That's how anime starts at the start it feels like an action anime. Master Keaton is one of the finest slice of life storytelling examples of the legendary studio madhouse. Every episode is kinda predictable yet uncommon in plot and narrative. The entire series is a combination of thriller and slice of life. Every episode is full of drama, interesting characters and suspense. All of them are strong and have their own charm as well.

Some of them have a heat warming background. The series offers a mix of historical, crime drama vibe as well. Almost like golden boy, Keaton's involvement with other characters drove storylines more exciting and enjoyable.

This anime is very mixed. On the one hand, it’s a very interesting concept, and—most importantly—it’s well-executed. Combining the isekai concept with reincarnation after death in a single story is awesome. There’s plenty of room for interesting plot twists. What really pleased me was the intriguing main character. He’s torn by conflicting emotions, and he feels very real. The music is awesome—both the opening themes and the soundtrack. The biggest plus—and the coolest thing for me—is the brutality. Trying to save everyone, only to face new deaths every time—it’s fascinating. The main character is driven mad by his own deaths and the impossibility of saving ...

This anime may seem boring at first, everything will look obvious. You'll feel that you already know who's the ghost. But I bet, you'll be wrong. And that's what 'Another' does. It will guide you to the wrong path, making sure what you're predicting is wrong. And that's the part I love about this anime. Because that 'wrong lead' will create a plot twist in the end. So I recommend every suspense lover this masterpiece. Don't underestimate it. While you watch it, keep one thing in mind: 'whatever you're predicting, is wrong'. And the last two episodes were insane.

Good lawdy, this movie takes the setup of the series that preceeds it to a whole new emotional level. To be honest, I had to restart this after the first half an hour because I really wasn't enjoying what they did with Sakuta's character on first watch. He felt a little different (less bold) from the series and it was messing with me. However, upon full rewatch this movie turned out to be absolute gold. Although the writing is a little less witty and humorous than the series is, they refocus all their plot strength towards tugging at your heartstrings instead. To be honest I ...

A story for women made by a woman.

A similar story progression to the One Piece Fan Letter, but this time a feministic theme and message captured through an allegory of the craft of shoemaking. Ignore the people who lack the media literacy and say that this one shot held no meaning and is another "filler" to have more content of both Nami and Robin. They're the same type of people who say Bear (from Obsesion) is the victim and not Nikki.

There isn't much you can actually hate from this anime. My clueless first friend has basically almost no flaws that you can clearly point out, and overall is a really great anime.

The things I liked most about this specifically are how the characters grow. Lots of Nishimuras classmates just view her as the "Grim Reaper" and refuse to actually get to know her. This is in no way comparable to Re: Zero or Konosuba, and it was a vile watch. It's clear to the viewer that we are meant to dislike Rudeus just as we were meant to dislike Subaru (at the beginning of season 1). On the racing front it's an ok season, it has a good feeling of danger, that appears in the last half. I do have a problem with how they are talking way too much about Aura and the spirit of the car, which I do get but it is constant this season.

For anyone who's read the light novels, the movie is a disappointment. Even I, having read light novels 12 and 13 which the movie adapts, struggled to follow the plot or find it interesting. The story takes place around the middle of Season 4, after the Dwarf arc and before the Re-Estize invasion.

This action-comedy is the hidden gem of the season.

Unlike a lot of shounen that attempt to insert comedy and fail (hmm hmm Demon Slayer), the comedy has a fair amount of laugh-out-loud moments and consistent funniness. The animation quality is great, which pairs really well with the action sequences that are unique, entertaining, and even, one might say, thrilling. The characters are also refreshingly natural, which is to say they aren't over the top or caricatures typical of a story largely set in a school. Marriagetoxin is a competent, yet surprisingly forgettable action series. It has all the bones and structure and interesting power sets needed to craft a solid shounen battle anime, but it never quite musters up any moments of engaging characterization or intriguing plot movements to really up its game past being a passable action plot. Perhaps part of this is a blisteringly fast pace of adaptation so as to give the season a strong concluding point to end on, but it often feels like we’re just moving from one plot event or mandatory back story to the next in rapid succession without giving those moments enough ...

Science, as it's presented within Dr. Stone, might be one of the most interesting and thoroughly developed characters presented in an anime. That said, Science is not a person, but it shapes everything within Dr. Stone with mostly fantastic results. The problems usually come from things that happen to not be science, such as characters, motivations, shark-jumping plot-twists, and more. Despite many shortcomings, the power and intrigue of Science is so strong that the show somehow manages to work for most of it's runtime, except for when it doesn't, of course.
