A YouTube video that sums up the events of the Madison protests from start to finish.

And finally...politicians in Ontario think Walker is nuts. They're lucky, they don't have to deal with him on a daily basis like the rest of us.

I don't know of any rallies or events going on todayJesse Jackson will be back in Madison to speak at around 3pm.
Public access to the Capitol is back up, so feel free to go down there, tell Walker to get out of our house. =P

There is a rally planned for tomorrow downtown, starting at noon. Another on Sunday, also at noon.

Capitol to be re-opened. I hope.

A temporary restraining order ordering the capitol open has been issued. Capacity-9000. Source that is NOT Twitter, holy crap!

So if you can get down to the capitol, go! Take a vuvuzela and stay for Walker's budget address and drown his lying annoying fucking asshole douchey words out!

EDIT: So far the building remains shut to the public, an appeal to the restraining order has been issued and is being heard at 2:00pm. They apparently want to keep the building closed until after the appeal has been heard.

*SIGH*

According to Twitter, apparently nobody is being allowed to enter the capitol building at this time. Oh, according to this, here's the new entry requirements into the building. People are not being let into the building unless they have official business or are attending a hearing.

I suppose breaking state law is all right when you're the governor. The state constitution prohibits this. (Article I, §4 – ANNOT. The legislature cannot prohibit an individual from entering the capitol or its grounds. [59 Atty. Gen. 8.]) Thank you Twitter.

I'm too tired to be as outraged as I should be. I'm also not remotely surprised.

ETA: Call Rep. Roys at 608.266.5340 to set up a meeting, this should get you in.

ETA Again: Apparently a lawsuit has just been filed against the state for not letting people into the building at a US District Court.

ETA One more time: Apparently Rep. Roys cannot get into the capitol either! WHAT THE FUCK?!

ETA Once more with feeling: Walker and GOP Senators are having the windows of the building welded shut. Legal action is being taken against this. HOLY SHIT. Wow. Fire hazard much? What the fuck do they think they're fucking DOING?!

As always, my source is Twitter, so some of this may be incorrect, but then again, it's scary how easy it is to believe that it's all true.

I have to spend the day doing real-life stuff, so I may not be all that fast with the news, but leave me stuff in comments and I'll update this post as needed.

Information Dump

2pm UPDATE: The police are now only letting in 1 person for every two people that leave the building. If you are in the building and planning on staying DO NOT LEAVE.
2:14pm UDATE: The doors have been locked, apparently no other people are being allowed into the building. Again...DO NOT LEAVE if you do not plan to leave.

Well, today's the day. I honestly have no clue or predictions to make on how shutting down the capitol will play out, but I am hoping for the best.

-Think the US mainstream media ignored us in a huge way yesterday? So do the Russians.

-Religious leaders joining the protests in the capitol this afternoon.

-A good twitter list of bloggers downtown you might wanna follow for today.

-Walker's savings will cost taxpayers millions. He's so good at saving us money and then costing us even more. Why is this not coming out of his damn paycheck?

-Read this if you plan to not leave the capitol when it's closed today.

-Links to recall efforts for the 8 GOP senators and our asswipe of a governor

-http://solidaritywisconsin.com/ An excellent news roundup of all that's been happening. I think they said they'd be updating the events in the capitol as they happen today.

-I will watch the live stream of the rotunda until (and if) it goes down this afternoon.

-Livestream of outside the building.

-The Onion did not forget us. As well they shouldn't, product of Madison WI that they are.

Also recommend following: http://twitter.com/identityH a protester who has been sleeping at the capitol and keeping me posted.
ETA: Also follow http://twitter.com/ddayen who is from LA and is on the ground in Madison tweeting about what's currently going on.

I can't be downtown today, but good luck to everyone who is, thank you for being there, and we all know no matter what happens today, we're not done yet.

News blurbs from Twitter

-The offices in the Capitol building are going to be closed at 6pm on Saturday, essentially kicking the protesters out of the building. Saturday's also likely to be damn crowded. Anyone else suddenly get nervous? This is ostensibly for safety reasons. Which makes PERFECT sense what with all the danger/safety issues there've been down at the capitol. I knew they were eventually going to try to shut that down(they've been slowly moving towards crackdowns all week), but now I'm nervous that this is where it'll start to get ugly, as the protesters plan to defy the order to vacate. Sen. Fitzgerald apparently announced this in the capitol. ETA: Source
ETA: Apparently the hallways and rotunda will remain open for people staying in the capitol overnight. Source

-Twitter gossip of the awesome kind. Walker tried to eat dinner at the restaurant Merchant. They refused to serve him.

-Madison Chief of Police would like Walker to clarify what he meant by saying he'd thought about planting troublemakers in the crowd. (Pssst, Walker? Inciting riots is not legal. You dipshit.)

-Due to a financial component in the voter ID bill, the Senate Dems are required for it to be voted on. (Fucking poll taxes and having to get around them, I tell ya.)

-Sen. Fitzgerald's wife got a layoff notice today. Those are apparently starting to make the rounds now. Her I can't really make myself care about, but everyone else....good luck to you.

-Troopers sent to all Senate Dems homes AGAIN on rumors that they're in Chicago by day and at home by night. *eyeroll* Come on guys, they're not half as stupid as that moron occupying the governor's office.

-Glenn Beck's radio show is dropped from Madison airwaves. Apparently he doesn't have a large enough audience to justify carrying it here anymore.

-A disability rights group is occupying the GOP headquarters in Madison until the medicaid provisions in the budget repair bill are removed.

-Senator Kohl is downtown with Tammy Baldwin. http://yfrog.com/h583enxj I think some people were wondering if he would ever show up.

Ok ok, I think I'm done editing this for awhile. Big news dump there.

Events.

I just found out about this on twitter, and it's possibly too late for me to post this to do any good but...

Walker and Paul Ryan are having a meeting with the WMC ass clods at Monona Terrace at 2pm. Protest march leaves from the Capitol at 2pm, on the Martin Luther King exit.

Give them hell! And tell us how it went.

Another one: There is apparently a protest scheduled for 4pm tomorrow at the new lobbying office of the Koch brothers at 10 E Doty St. Meetup is at....the Walgreens nearby? (I think?) Will update when/if I get more details.

And another one:
Rally for Worker's Rights in Beloit, Thursday, 4:00pm. Riverside Park near the Lagoon.

We gotta take the bastards down.

New Dropkick Murphys song, just for us, Take 'Em Down

I knew I liked this band. Don't think it's available on iTunes or anywhere else yet, but go ahead and listen to it there. It's awesome.

In other not-so-awesome news, it appears to be confirmed that Walker has had websites of the opposition blocked from the capitol. The wireless network that the TAA was using to coordinate has also disappeared. The fun part is that by specifically blocking a main website of the opposition, Walker may be breaking federal law on free speech. Stifling free speech in the name of...whatever he's trying to get, stability, his own way, IS NOT WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE. On the other hand...this will most likely backfire on him in a HUGE way. He's just helping us win.

We gotta take the bastard down.
vote - where is?
