Interesting designs seen on a sunny day at the Marheineke Markthalle in Kreuzberg. For more shadowy shots, head over to Shadow Shot Sunday.

Heirlooms
I found these beautiful heirloom tomatoes irresistible! They were found during a recent trip to the Marheineke Markthalle in Kreuzberg.
Sweet, sweet coffee
There was something about this scene that caught my eye. I will have to go back and give Gizmo's a try the next time I'm in the neighborhood. It's Wednesday and more signs can be found here.
Merry Christmas!
This creche is from the Schloss Charlottenburg Christmas Market. It's one of the biggest and prettiest in Berlin and they always have a nice manger scene. These figures were handmade by a local chainsaw artist. I always wonder how they can get so much detail with a chainsaw.
Enjoy the rest of your Christmas, hopefully surrounded by friends, family and those you love.

Hark the herald angels sing!
I really liked these angels that decorated the Schloss Charlottenburg Christmas Market this year. They're quite simple, but make a big impact, especially in the dark!
My best wishes to you this holiday season!

Big wheel
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make the rounds to all of the Christmas Markets in Berlin this year, but I did make it to some of the best. This giant ferris wheel was set up at the market near the Nikolaiviertel. The colors are not so Christmas-y to me, but it does make a good landmark when you're meeting other people there (don't ask me how I know this).
I hope that you've all been having a wonderful holiday season so far. We are headed off to Florida tomorrow for a bit of relaxing golf under the sun before celebrating with my family. I have a few posts scheduled, but I probably won't have time to get around to all of your blogs. Enjoy this time up to Christmas and see you in the New Year!
Enjoying the view
These benches on Leopoldplatz are a good place for some people watching in Wedding. There's a weekly market here on the square and when it gets warmer there is also a nice fountain for the kids to play in. I enjoyed my cappuccino from le garçon here a few weeks ago.
PS: I've also got a Viennese sign for you over on my travel blog. You can see it here.

Last one
I vowed that yesterday would be my last holiday post, but I found one more from the Christmas market that I just had to share. I didn't like the way the buck is creepily staring, but the wooden hut, the lights and the welcoming sign all come together to make a nice ambiance here at Gendarmenmarkt. Christmas magic!
I didn't make it to as many Christmas Markets this year as I would have liked. I did however find the time to visit the one that takes place at Gendarmenmarkt. It is a large, commercial market, but the decorations (as you've seen) are beautiful! At least one visit during the season is a must. For more signs, head to Signs, Signs.
PS: Hope you have an easy slide into 2015!

Lit up
More from the Christmas Market on Gendarmentmarkt. I just love the way the two cathedrals are lit up for the season. There was a little peek at the other church in yesterday's post.

Another tree!
This giant tree graces the Christmas Market at Gendarmenmarkt. It's simply decorated, but so pretty - especially with the cathedral in the background.

Something different
When my husband and I visited the Christmas Market last night, we decided to try something different. Instead of the traditional Glühwein, I tried a Jagtee and he had a Lumbamumba. Both were delicious! Today I'm back at the apartment finishing up the IKEA closet. It seems like there are so many details to work out before we can really move in. A little Jagtee would really hit the spot right about now, in fact!

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope Santa brought you everything you wanted and that you are celebrating with those you love. My celebrations were somewhat scaled back this year due to the move, but I did manage to make it to one more Christmas Market this evening. I thought a photo of their life-size nativity scene would be appropriate for today.
PS: Sorry for the sporadic posting and commenting. I've been building IKEA furniture through the holidays. (I thought those days were over for me already - but sometimes IKEA really is the best.)

A star
A beautiful starry decoration adorns the window at the gym where I like to work out sometimes. The move-in day went pretty well. Our furniture and stuff has moved in, even if we haven't, but hopefully we'll be able to make our new house a home in the next few days. There are just a few remaining projects that need to be completed before we can really unpack and get settled. I hope once that's done, I'll still have some time to enjoy the holiday season!
Confidential to my mum: Happy Birthday!!!
Saint Lucia's lights
Christmas decorations are up at the Saint Lucia's Market in Prenzlauerberg. This particular market has a Swedish flare!

Glowing time
It's that time of the year again... I love making the round of all the Christmas markets in Berlin. My first real visit was to Schloss Charlottenburg. It's one of the bigger, more commercial markets, but still one of my favorites. Drinking Gluhwein from a real mug is so much nicer than from paper or plastic. You can even keep the mug for just three euros. For more signs, take a look at Signs, Signs.
Blue
I showed you the new chapel from inside a few days ago. Here it is from the outside with the lovely addition of a decorated Christmas tree. Enjoy!

Christmas at the Domaine
I made it to five Christmas markets this year! This shot is from the last (and best) one I visited. There is a small city farm in Berlin called The Domaine. The market here was really old-fashioned, full of handmade goods and bio products, many of which were produced at the Domaine itself! The only downside was, there weren't lots of lights and such that you find at the more commercial markets so getting photos was more difficult. I thought I would share this one of the kiddies having fun. Hope your Christmas was merry and that you've got plenty of yummy leftovers to enjoy tonight.
Christmas in Potsdam
I made it to a few more Christmas markets over the weekend, including this one in Potsdam. The market itself was nicely arranged, running along the main street from the Archway to the Church (which you see here). The weather has really been perfect for the markets this year, a little chilly, but not too cold or wet. I'm ready for the festivities to begin - how about you?
