Once upon a time, there was a wood. Though it stood in the lands around the Upper Thames Valley, it belonged to the territory of the Hwicce, whose lands lay to the west, across Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and the neighbouring areas. The last remnants of this wood still stand today, though most of the trees have gone. The name of the wood was "Wychwood" - the "wood of the Hwicce".
You might think that this was all ancient history; perhaps, but ancient history can be the most interesting. And for Anglo-Saxon reenactors, Wychwood isn't old history at all...
And because everyone seems to be doing it:
I read journals I find interesting. That's about as deep and meaningful as it gets. If I read you, I will read everything you post; I don't filter or skip. If I don't grant you access, you aren't missing much. I tend to post on public; sometimes I'll filter things on subjects I know don't interest some of my friends, and sometimes I will filter posts with more personal content, but that's quite rare. If I stop reading you, it's nothing personal. Either I'm not particularly interested in whatever content you're posting, or I don't have time to keep up with everything. I comment. I read comments. If you comment on here, even if I don't respond, I will have read it.
While (as I said above) I do post almost entirely publicly, I also tend to lock anything more than a year or so old. I have a few posts unlocked because I know people have linked to them; if you want to see an older post for some reason, and can't access it, drop me a comment somewhere and I'll usually be more than happy to unlock it. It's a general principle, not a religion. *g*
