  • Orioles' Cameron Weston: Optioned to Triple-A

The Orioles optioned Weston to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

Weston was called up by the Orioles on Wednesday but did not see major-league action before being sent back down to the minors Monday. He's appeared in 19 games (seven starts) in Triple-A this season, where he sports a 7.23 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 53:24 K:BB across 37.1 innings.

  • Orioles' Sam Huff: Returns on minor-league deal

Huff signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Friday and was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk.

Huff has elected free agency on all three occasions after the Orioles have designated him for assignment this season, only to return to the organization on minor-league pacts. The 28-year-old catcher has logged 102 plate appearances at Norfolk this season, slashing .183/.255/.312 with three home runs.

  • Orioles' Creed Willems: Lands on IL at Triple-A

Triple-A Norfolk placed Willems on its 7-day injured list Thursday due to a left hamstring injury, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Willems has been serving as Norfolk's top backstop this season, compiling a .261/.359/.449 slash line with 14 home runs through his first 69 games before landing on the shelf. The Orioles haven't revealed a timeline for Willems' return, but he'll most likely be held out of action through the All-Star break.

  • Orioles' Jackson Kowar: Out for season after shoulder scope

Kowar underwent a successful right shoulder arthroscopic debridement surgery June 24, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

After failing to win an Opening Day roster spot with the Orioles coming out of spring training, Kowar was assigned to Triple-A Norfolk to begin the season. He compiled a 3.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 5:1 K:BB in five innings out of the Norfolk bullpen before landing on the injured list April 16 due to the shoulder injury. Kowar didn't respond as well to rest and rehab as he had hoped and ultimately required surgery, prompting Norfolk to move him to its full-season IL last week. He'll likely be in the market for a minor-league deal this winter and could be fully cleared by the time pitchers report to spring training in February.

  • Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Solid in losing effort

Bradish (5-9) took the loss Sunday against the Reds, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over 7.2 innings. He struck out five.

Bradish pitched well Sunday, as he held the Reds to two runs on Spencer Steer's fifth-inning homer before giving up another run on a two-out hit in the eighth. However, Baltimore failed to provide Bradish with enough run support in an eventual 3-2 defeat. The right-hander has now dropped back-to-back starts, though he's given up just seven earned runs across 27.1 innings in his last four outings. Overall, Bradish's ERA sits at 3.75 with a 1.40 WHIP and 101:48 K:BB across 18 starts (100.2 innings) this season. He's tentatively in line to face the Royals at home his next time out.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: On bench Sunday

Basallo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Basallo hasn't started against a lefty since June 3, though including Sunday, Baltimore has faced just five southpaw starters during that stretch. The rookie catcher has a .258/.329/.485 slash line with five homers, 15 RBI and six runs in his past 19 contests. Coby Mayo is batting fifth as the designated hitter in Sunday's series finale versus Nick Lodolo.

  • Orioles' Colton Cowser: On bench versus lefty

Cowser is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Along with fellow left-handed hitters Samuel Basallo, Jackson Holliday and Dylan Beavers, Cowser will take a seat for the series finale against Nick Lodolo. Leody Taveras will replace Cowser in center field and bat seventh.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Idle against southpaw

Holliday is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds.

Along with fellow left-handed hitters Samuel Basallo, Colton Cowser and Dylan Beavers, Holliday will take a seat for the series finale against Nick Lodolo. Jeremiah Jackson will replace Holliday at second base and bat eighth.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Heading to bench versus lefty

Beavers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Beavers will hit the bench along with three other left-handed hitters (Colton Cowser, Samuel Basallo and Jackson Holliday) while the Orioles stock up on right-handed bats against Nick Lodolo. Since coming off the injured list June 28, Beavers has appeared in four games and has gone just 1-for-14 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run. Now holding down an underwhelming .222/.308/.342 slash line on the season, Beavers could be in danger of ceding starts to the likes of Leody Taveras or Tyler O'Neill if he's unable to improve on his production.

  • Orioles' Samuel Basallo: Goes deep again in win

Basallo went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Reds.

Basallo opened the scoring with a three-run blast off Hunter Greene. It was the 21-year-old's second straight game with a homer, and he's now gone deep four times over his past nine contests. While he still tends to sit against lefties, Basallo is slashing .257/.322/.470 with 14 homers, 42 RBI and 31 runs scored across 276 plate appearances in what has been a strong rookie campaign.

  • Orioles' Pete Alonso: Perfect at plate in win

Alonso went 3-for-3 with one double, one RBI, one run scored and two walks in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Reds.

Alonso reached base in all five of his plate appearances, capped by an RBI single in the eighth inning and a double in the ninth. It marked the second three-hit effort for the first baseman over his past nine games, a stretch in which he's tallied four extra-base hits and seven RBI. On the season, he's slashing .254/.347/.472 with 19 homers, 60 RBI, 54 runs scored and two steals across 389 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Tyler Wells: Collects second save

Wells earned the save in Saturday's 8-5 win over the Reds, allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not record a strikeout.

With Ryan Helsley (elbow) back on the injured list, Wells has gotten the call for two straight save chances and delivered on both. He owns a 3.02 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 43:10 K:BB across 41.2 innings this season and appears to be the early favorite to replace Helsley in the ninth inning as long as he continues to pitch well.

  • Orioles' Brandon Young: Settles in for win

Young (7-2) earned the win against the Reds on Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings.

Young allowed four runs through the first two innings but finished with three scoreless frames and benefited from an eight-run outburst from the Orioles. While he was able to log at least five frames for the eighth straight outing, Saturday marked just the second time in 14 contests this season the 27-year-old yielded more than three earned runs. He owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 62:30 K:BB across 77.1 innings overall and will take on the Royals at home in his final start before the All-Star break.

  • Orioles' Dylan Beavers: Sitting Saturday

Beavers is not in the Orioles' starting lineup against the Reds on Saturday.

Beavers will be on the bench while Taylor Ward, Colton Cowser and Leody Taveras start in the outfield for the Orioles on Saturday from left to right. Since returning from the 10-day injured list last weekend, Beavers has gone 1-for-14 with one RBI and five strikeouts.

  • Orioles' Dom Keegan: Assigned to Double-A

Keegan cleared outright waivers and was assigned by the Orioles to Double-A Chesapeake on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Keegan will stick around with the Orioles after being claimed off waivers from the Rays in late June. He's spent the entire season in Triple-A but will move down to Double-A to start his tenure with the Orioles organization.
