smell the roses

food, nature, photography, art, travel

this year I decided to try something new, so I got a few flowers, poblano peppers and red basil seeds. from last year I still have my thyme and rosemary, rhododendron and ficus. the most surprising last year plant is cayenne pepper which is blooming and now has two peppers on it. it spent the winter in our living room with other indoor plants.

In the other news, I have subbed at Tualatin High school today, advanced math is what they did on their own. This teacher only deals with IB classes, which usually means no issues with the students ever. Easy day with the massage chair and a nice walk, always 2 km as it’s marked on the track.
Friday I subbed at David Douglas alternative school, it also has a massage chair ( this is my standard for choosing schools ) . My students learned about the great green wall of Africa in a social studies class. Apparently they started this project in 2021 sponsored by the World Bank.
i have been reading The Myth of Normal by Gabor Mate and can’t tell this book is blowing my mind. I have only finished chapter 12 which is 25% of the book but it’s quite underwhelming. I’m glad I have borrowed it from the library so if it doesn’t answer all of my questions in life, I can always go ahead and borrow another book from the library. LoL the goal is to never stop looking and hoping for the best under the delusional assumption of being normal.
