What do you do if there is a heat wave and you arrive early for your dentist appointment? Obviously walk down to the pier to cool off.

Even the sea is evaporating in the heat.

What do you do when you have a relaxed walk up to the dentist, pleased you are exactly on time, then hear they tried to phone you this morning to tell you the dentist has gone sick!
Normal person in a heat wave – go home.
Blogger in a heat wave – head for shady gardens and take photos for your blog.

Yes it really was as green as this.

Flies are a nuisance in hot weather

Will we find any art?

What next?

Coffee and writing
If you are in Europe you are very likely to be enduring a heatwave. Wherever you are how is your weather?

Ah! I was wondering how big that fly was. Hope you kept it off your picnic 😉

What a serene scene. I am glad the lady found the spot under the tree and I hope she brought a good book with her (preferably mine lol).

There were lots of people enjoying the shade, strolling or sitting on the grass, They don’t seem to have appeared in my photos.

Hi Janet, superb pictures. I’m stuck in hospital so missing the heatwave and all the discomfort. I’m trying to keep up with all the experts pitching to me where my books should be and how for a fee they will get them there. Can I remind everyone that an author needs reviews from readers in order to have Amazon promote their books. Lend a hand and share your opinion with others.
Hugs

Sounds like a good hospital then, but hope you won’t be in there for too long. Yes ‘Super AI Man’ keeps sending me messages about how wonderful my work is and why it deserves to be promoted by them.

Janet, your pictues are so inviting. I think you didn’t mind one bit that your dentist wasn’t available. I love the willow tree. I’m glad you are a blogger instead of someone who would just drive off and go home. 🙂 xxx

Yes Marsha I skipped out of the dentists! Though my dentist is great and I’ll be back on Thursday for another attempt to get my filling done.

Your dentist certainly works in a beautiful area!

Close to a beautiful area, cutting edge might describe the part of town where the dental surgery is.

Our dental office in Prescott, AZ was an amazing place. I took pictures outside, and was going to go back on a day the dentists were out, and never did it. He built the building himself. I’ll try to find the post. I found a couple, but they don’t do the building justice. Here’s a B & W. You have to scroll down to about the last picture. https://alwayswrite.blog/2022/12/30/cbwc-anything-from-wood/

Your dentist must have been rather unique! My dental surgery is in an old building, probably a house originally, with three floors and my dentist is on the top floor, three surgeries and a tiny landing with room for only two chairs to wait. Actually four flights of stairs to climb up.

Wow, he doesn’t want older patients, does he, or is there an elevator?

Hardly room for a fireman’s pole… There are dentists on the ground and middle floor.

Sounds like a big office. Does it need a fireman’s pole? LOL

Yes for those who change their mind when the dentist gets the syringe out!

Gorgeous photos and of course a blogger would never waste an opportunity to create content! Here in New York it has been 80-95 degrees with suffocating humidity. But you head into Central Park and with all of the trees providing shade, you can almost put up with it! Sorry for all of those people in Europe who are so much hotter!

Yes John and like us you owe thanks to earlier city fathers for saving land and creating an oasis in the heart of the city.

I love all the park pictures. Our area is just as green. I got a big kick out of this bit: “Blogger in a heat wave – head for shady gardens and take photos for your blog.” I’ve been know to drag my husband out of the way so I can take photos for my blog. Right now, we’re getting rain. The temps this week have been in the 70s, so it’s been lovely. However, that could change!

Very rarely I have accidentally left my phone behind and panicked, not about possible emergencies, but what if I see something I want to photograph!

Hello Lisa, yes I have found some good shady spots and lots of us realise how much we owe to forebears who planted trees and laid out nice gardens. They would not have imagined how hot it would be in the twenty first century.

Janet,
I love old trees and the shade they provide🌳 that is true…our forebears would not have imagined this weather! ☀️

Hello Lisa, yes old trees are real treasures and we need to plant plenty of trees for our descendants to enjoy.

We’re in a regular pattern of foggy and overcast days when we don’t see the sun much if at all. Typical temperatures have been around 60 degrees Fahrenheit or 15.5 degrees Celsius.

Hello Pete so you might be a tiny bit envious of us, but not when you look at that map of Europe coloured in bright red!

It’s a tradeoff we’re willing to make because neither of us is a big fan of the heat.

It’s good to see that the grass is still green!
Here on Vancouver Island we have had two brief heat waves, 30C for two days each, followed by cooler weather and often wind. Nothing like the heat in western Europe and the UK, but we did have a “heat dome” five years ago exactly, during which temperatures were in the mid to high 30s for several days. I hope it doesn’t happen again.

Yes Audrey, I presume the great downpours we had recently followed by sun made plants and grass happy. By the end of summer it could be a different picture.

It was Sheree, proof indeed that the best way to beat the heat is to plant trees.

It must be nice to have a sea breeze, Janet. Yesterday was far too hot in East Anglia, today is just about bearable. Looking forward to the forecast ‘cool down’ soon.
Best wishes, Pete.

Yes Pete, when we hear how hot it is at Heathrow I appreciate moving here! In Perth , WA, they have the Fremantle Doctor, the afternoon breeze from the Indian Ocean.

All the British bloggers are writing about the heatwave. Hopefully it cools down soon. Our winter has been very mild and my peach tree has buds nodules. Really! In June! And my jasmine is getting buds too. Not believing in global warming is like not believing the earth is round.

A bit cooler today. I went into Bournemouth for a writers’ workshop at a hotel and it was madness ( everywhere except the hotel! )- fun though. There were Cheerleaders everywhere, must have been a competition or something and the beach was packed, a loudspeaker said they were raising millions then everyone swarmed into the sea and started swimming.

I am feeling so bad for all of you experiencing the heat wave, Janet! It’s been hot here in New England (US), but nothing like what you have been enduring! Although, pretty hot temps are arriving this coming week! It seems the world is on fire in so many ways! Take good care, and try to stay cool, if at all possible!!!

Thanks Anita, cooler today, we are lucky to be having sea breezes so we have stayed out of the RED alert!
