Happy New Year’s Eve!  When your watching that big ball fall for the sky with billions of lights burning brightly, think about the cost of electricity.

John Bear is the President of Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), a
NON PROFIT 501c4 with $3,500,000,000 ($3.5 Billion) In assets which is comprised of Utility companies-Electricity.  ⚡💡

MISO successfully petitioned the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on behalf of utility companies to allow a new method to calculate costs that INCREASES the cost of Electricity: The Reliability curve!

The Reliability curve is based on classifying “Renewable” power generators like solar/wind to be considered unreliable and warrants
Increasing the price of electricity.  This resulted in the price going from $30 in 2024 to $666.50 in 2025. (See pic 2) Full report found here  .

MISO transmission owners are companies such as Ameren, Duke Energy, NIPSCO, AES, and Entergy.   MISO is comprised of approximately 54 Utility companies from Wisconsin to Louisiana including Indiana.

MISO’s John Bear sits as President of Energy Services Network (ESN), an organization that dreams up projects to increase the use of electricity.  It’s all funded by the Indiana Economic Development Corp (IEDC). (See pic 3 and 4)

MISO, John Bear, campaigns around the world to INCREASE the use of renewables like solar/wind. John Bear is the recent former president of GO15 (see pic 5) who collaborates with other countries such as China. Mr. Bear loves the Climate Change ideology and so does China.  Video may be seen here

China depends on the sale of Lithium Ion Cells.  Lithium Ion Cells are used in Solar, Data Center Computers, Electric Vehicles etc.

Both Data Centers and BESS centers are guzzlers of Energy.  They use lithium ion cells and drink electricity like a professional Drunkard on New Year’s Eve.

These Energy guzzlers just happen to be customers of MISO transmission owners such as NIPSCO and their new UNREGULATED entity GenCo.  Better yet, BlackStone recently purchased 20% of NIPSCO.  BlackStone is one of the Worlds largest Data Center Owners which means we pay them to build the data centers – we give them tax abatements, tax credits, federal funds- then we pay them for the equipment to generate electricity- then we pay them to build more generators- we pay them through the IEDC- and last but not least: WE PAY THEM MONTHLY OUT OF WAGES LEFT OVER.

Turn off the lights at the IEDC! And Audit MISO!

When Christopher Columbus hit the shores of North America, I doubt that he imagined Starbucks, McDonalds and other restaurant chains lining up in a row to offer this year’s latest advertising gig to woo the population into their doors.

With Columbus Day just around the corner, the restaurant chains are starting their fall advertising to make their customers smile with addictive foods and games to pull those holiday dollars out of your pockets and into their coffers.

National Coffee day today brought out the Starbuck’s fans to take some delight in extra muscle builder through their new protein drinks.  While most people in the United States get more than enough protein in their regular diet, Starbucks believes that you need more for $6.00 a cup.  My thoughts quickly ran to the budget of $10.00 for a pound of coffee.

Food stuff and essentials have become so expensive these days but we often like to take the kids out for a treat at McDonalds.   McDonalds has been around since what seems like before the first car was made.  All of us who are older than dirt have memories of that famous McDonalds sign that read how many millions of hamburgers were sold with the price of 15 Cents at the top.  Now a hamburger is more than $2.00.  They are now restarting the McDonalds monopoly with $1 Million cash prize after more than a decade of hiatus which provides a major distraction from the hamburger price.

With prices rising faster than Elon Musk’s rocket to Mars, I’m inclined to keep my money in my pocket baking and cooking more at home.  A new Kitchen-Aid mixer would make a nice improvement on my old wooden spoon to mix up a batch of chocolate chip cookies or to knead a fresh loaf of bread.  I think I’ll head on over to the Kitchen Aid website to see if I can win one of those bright new Tangerine Orange stand mixers.  You’ll have to hurry on over because the contest ends October 3, 2025 to residents of the United States.

Good Luck,

Kimberly Mann

Our species depends upon food, clothing, and shelter to provide for our basic needs. Taxing those needs becomes an issue in the minds of concerned citizens especially when that tax affects the very young and the very old. Shelter is one of the main necessities of life.

Property taxes are used for road maintenance, schools, police and fire departments, salaries of local representatives, and other services by government units. Property Taxes are collected based upon the value of your home and land by an assessed value deemed appropriate by the local Assessors office. The Assessor’s office is responsible for collecting enough property tax to cover the budget set by your local unit of government. Local governments have the option to increase or decrease tax rates. LaPorte County Indiana tax rate is one of the highest in Indiana ranking 20 out of 92 counties.

The method of determining assessed value varies by State. The process of determining an assessed value in Indiana is through “mass appraisal”. Mass appraisal is the method when “your property is looked at in conjunction with other properties in your area. Assessors consider age, grade, and condition. Finally in a process known as annual adjustment, or “trending”, each year real property sales data is used to determine if the value of properties in your area should change to match the market value found in the sales of recent properties.” Indiana Department of Local Government Finance.

The assessed value is multiplied by the tax rate for your area to generate your property tax bill. Generally, a homeowner has 30 days to contest the assessed value after receiving a notice from the assessor’s office usually in May. Form 130 to appeal the value may be found at the Indiana DLGF website. Prior to 2002, property taxes were evaluated every 5 to 10 years in Indiana which left homeowners in a bind because of increased home values. They are now evaluated every year to prevent tax bills that homeowners cannot pay.

Even with the yearly review of market values, citizens are often delivered large tax increases due to the evaluation process. According to the LaPorte County Indiana Assessor “98% of our assessments this year are under the true market value….my assessments even with the increases are still under market value.” While this answer may sound good to the Assessor and others that believe “market value” is a fair evaluation, this can leave homeowners with a large, unexpected tax bill. Undervaluing a property can result in a sudden change to bring the assessment up to “market value” which often creates an unexpected increase of more than 50%, the exact scenario that prompted a law change from 5 to 10 year evaluations to yearly.

The legal ramifications of not paying a property tax bill are life threatening, the government entity will seize your shelter. Until just last year, government units and investors would sell your home and keep any remainder over that which was owed in property tax. The Supreme Court voted 9-0 in favor of a 94 year old woman who owed $15,000 in property taxes to a county in Minnesota. Her home was worth $40,000. The local government kept the profit. Judge John Roberts wrote “A taxpayer who loses her $40,000 house to the state to fulfill a $15,000 tax debt has made a far greater contribution to the public fisc than she owed….The taxpayer must render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, but no more.”

With inflation soaring, homelessness exploding, mortgage interest rates at all-time highs, Social Security payments lacking to keep pace with the Consumer Price Index, local governments must tighten their belts to keep budgets under control in order to prevent citizens from losing one of their basic needs, their home.

Thank you to Michael Schultz, LaPorte County Indiana Assessor, for answering questions concerning property tax evaluation.

Radio Bankruptcies, Billionaire Oligarchs, and Household Confidence

April 22 2024
by PK Morgan

Good Morning all you hardworking Americans! Radio is in the News. Paul Harvey was an icon in the Radio business during WW11 and into the 21st century until his passing in February of 2009. He was considered one of the most recognized names in Radio Broadcast and was carried on 1200 Radio Stations and 400 American Forces Network stations. And now we have someone new!

We love hardworking individuals who have passion and desire for their trade. Some of us claw our way to the top supporting our trade with elbow grease. And then, there are others. George Soros appears to build upon others through socialist programs by influencing politics in the United States and now he owns the Radio Mic. With $400 Million, Mr. Soros purchased 227 US Radio Stations just as the Presidential Election is getting a footing.

Audacy, the Number 2 US radio broadcaster, filed bankruptcy April 2024 and Soros purchased roughly 40% of Audacy’s debt. Additionally, last year, Soros bought a $350 Million stake in Vice Media Group who also filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The Associated Press reported assistant professor at Virginia Tech’s School of Communication Megan Duncan’s stunning note in regards to the Vice bankruptcy “the changing landscape of social media-a space where outlets like Vice once thrived in terms of reaching audiences.”

Jason Mollica, professor at American University’s School of Communication said, “One of the things that I think really hurt Vice, and in turn BuzzFeed as well, is social media networks like Facebook changing their algorithms….When you’re not pulling in the numbers that you would expect advertising-wise, you’re losing money.”

Curious, would Mr. Soros’ investment in Facebook starting in June of 2019 have anything to do with the fall of some of these Media groups to make them ripe for the plucking. Soros was quoted in regards to Facebook in 2020 “I repeat my proposal, Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg must be removed from control of Facebook (needless to say, I support government regulation of social media platforms),”  the billionaire wrote in the Financial Times . No pressure there! 😏

Presidents are often blamed for excessive bankruptcies. Many businesses folded their cards in the 2021-2024 time period. According to Reuters, bankruptcies surged 18% in 2023 and rising in 2024. Chapter 11 filings rose 72% from 356,911 in 2022 to 6,569 in 2023. Vice President of Epiq AACER was quoted ” We expect the increase in number of consumer and commercial filers seeking bankruptcy protection to continue in 2024 given the runoff of pandemic stimulus, increased cost of funds, higher interest rates, rising delinquency rates, and near historic levels of household debt.”

Household debt. Now there’s a subject. Craig Copeland, EBRI Director of Wealth Benefits said “The confidence both workers and retirees have in their ability to finance their retirements dropped significantly in 2023…The last time a decline in confidence of this magnitude occurred was in 2008 during the global financial crisis.”

The good in all of this. As material items become financially out of reach for US citizens, their willingness to return to their roots of an Agrarian society increases. Self Sufficient instead of China Dependent.

Inflating Groceries, Pandemic Agreement, and Party Affiliation War

April 20 2024
by PK Mann (651 words, Read time: about 5 minutes)

With weather that is now staying above the freezing mark in Northern Indiana as we move into the Merry Month of May, gardening chores fill the calendar as grocery prices rise astronomically due to inflation that took hold in 2021.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics published The Economics Daily on April 17 22024. Their headline was “Consumer prices up 3.5 percent from March 2023 to March 2024”. Doesn’t sound so bad but still not good when you look at the big picture. The Federal Reserve said grocery prices have risen 25% since the pandemic began. (1) Divide 25% over 3 years= 8.3%. Was your pay raise more than 8.3% every year over the past 3 years?

The Food and Beverage industry lobbies our government on issues like taxes, trade, agriculture, transportation, the environment, and federal budget. Why? It’s an effort to reduce their tax or maybe increase the ability to compete against another business. Last year there were almost 13,000 lobbyist spending more than $4 Billion (opensecrets.org) to sway the vote of YOUR representatives to increase their business and deflate your pocket.

Lobbying brings to mind pharmaceuticals companies spending more than $8 million on Joe Biden in the 2020 time frame during the pandemic. The pandemic brings back memories of Government lockdowns that were designed to keep healthy people from traveling freely which begs the question “Why?” and “How?” especially for those who had acquired natural immunity to a communicable disease. Memories, aren’t they sumthin’!

Looking to the future, the United States people will soon decide if power of control over pandemic lockdowns, gene therapies, use of medicines, and definitions of words like “essential” will be given to the WHO under a new Pandemic Agreement. Member states will attend, including the USA, the 77th World Health Assembly directed by WHO starting May 27th 22024 to consider the proposed text of the world’s first pandemic agreement for adoption. Adoption, adopting exactly what? My friend James Roguski has more of an opinion on this issue here. (2)

Individual citizens need to understand just how significant this Pandemic Agreement is and where it leads us into the future. The agreement allows a “central” power to control the actions of all those inhabiting the earth. The text may be found here. (3) Please let your Senators know your feelings concerning this extraordinary power being given to a foreign entity.

Memorial Day will be upon us soon as April says goodbye and the bright sunshine of May arrives with its beautiful flowers. Flowers are on the cutting list for visiting fallen soldiers and compassionate thoughts flood the brainwaves as we worry about our young enlisted that are currently fighting in the Middle East region of the world. While we (by we… I’m referring to our Government) fund organizations that some consider terrorist, on the flip side we are providing ammunition to fight those same terrorists. Seems like we are trying to eliminate the whole lot. Can you imagine how those citizens standing in the middle must feel while bullets fly over their heads?

The theatre played “Civil War” for us the other day. While walking out of the theatre, we often engage in conversation with others about their thoughts, likes and dislikes, of the movie. Of the few people that attended, the public viewing seemed to be a flop. However, Rusty and I enjoyed the thought provoking story line. It was difficult to understand who was fighting who as movie goers pointed out, which was part of the point of civil war, but the overall idea of what happens when political parties encourage citizens to take sides in a powerful country. Our thoughts immediately moved to “How would we protect ourselves from this type of scenario without weapons?”

April 2 2024

By PK Morgan

April 2 2024 Is National Peanut Butter and Jelly day. A day that I just can’t get into after my mother sent Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches everyday in my lunch sack until I was 15 when I refused to carry those brown sacks that drew every bully on the block.

Bullies are still in full force as adults. They just change their tactics and clothes to more respectable appearances with fancy titles like the Iranian president that claims Israel attacked their commanders in Syria. Who knows if it’s true but everyone knows that Iran can’t be trusted and hires bullies to drop bombs on innocent people.

Children are innocent people that are forced to take vaccines in order to attend tax paid schooling. Schools proclaim this rule is to protect other children but refuse to show any documentation that their claim is true. Doubt concerning the source of the statements surrounding vaccine safety nags at every mother and father. Those who are informed are well aware that pharmaceutical companies are driven by sales while Congressmen who make regulations about vaccines and school enrollment are sometimes heavily invested in their stocks.

Stocks on the farm may become less flooded with animals and farm equipment as they argue over how much money to put into the farm bill. Certain farm groups are lobbying Congress in an effort to increase conservation. More conservation of farm land means less land to be planted in American food and higher food costs while tax payers pay the farmers to leave the land bare.

Going bare in a bikini may get a little tougher this year for those who indulge in McDonald’s dining. As if the food isn’t already questionable with the gas and chemicals they use on their potatoes, the deep fat frying, and the calorie count of one sandwich, they are adding Krispy Kreme Donuts nationwide in the USA.

The nation has been experiencing heavy inflation currently riding at 3.2% (goal is 2%) with goods and services skyrocketing over the past few years. According to some economists, deflation might be in the cards where businesses are forced to drop prices. From an economists point of view, this is not good news! In addition, the news and implementation of AI could force many people out of work which means very few with disposable income.

You might use some of that disposable income to entertain yourself on April 8 2024. A solar eclipse, the sun obscured from vision by the moon, will amaze the children but be sure to protect their eyes by using a pinhole projector. Follow the link for instructions on how to make one with two pieces of paper.

Robbing Peter to Pay Paul with Property Tax Dollars

November 29 2023
by PK Morgan

Economic development projects in this country were originally meant to help underprivileged sections of the United States. These projects have moved from blight improvement into businesses for our government and taxpayers to finance resulting in higher property taxes.

Imagine our surprise when LaPorte County Redevelopment Commission (RDC) President Justin Kiel attended a training session on how to build homes with taxpayer money and then directing Mr. Reardon to gather pertinent information for LaPorte County RDC members to review at the June 28, 2023 meeting.

Citizens generally run to a bank or credit company when they need a loan to start up a business. Those businesses can range from lemonade stands to building houses to rent to other citizens. Our government representatives have become your competitor in your effort to put food on the table with their own companies or companies of their friends.

The Ultimate financial arrangement: Mayor Harry’s friend Joe wants to open a liquor store but ain’t got no money. Mayor Harry sets up a financial arrangement so that the state, with taxpayer funds, will give him $50 Million to build, stock, and start up that liquor store. Once Joe gets going, The mayor asks the county assessor to reevaluate the area surrounding the new liquor store because of improvements to the neighborhood. The assessor hikes all the property taxes in the area, the state and city get more tax money, Joe gets a new business, and you got higher taxes.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul. Here’s how it works. The citizens who are tax payers pay into the general tax fund. Those funds are then given to certain groups to do projects. Those projects are then owned by those individuals or groups. The “improvement” in the area allows the assessor to increase property taxes for those homeowners in the surrounding area. Those “excess” or increased portion of the taxes are used to pay down the debt of those who conducted the projects. In other words, to pay back the bond. These loans are usually given to political allies of those in office.

The programs are set up to finance the business with increased future property tax payments made by local property owners. Bonds are issued and given to the investing public by governmental entities for upfront disposable cash used to build the housing projects. Many times the bonds(debt) are held by private investors with tax dollars going directly into those private investors pockets. Interest paid to those investors stays in the investor’s pocket, millions.
