Just a reminder that some of us poor schmucks are still on dial-up, thank you very much! When recapping four seasons of a series with pretty pictures, please keep that in mind. Yes, I want to see the caps, too, but perhaps trying to load three hundred (okay, I exaggerate...slightly) into one post was a bit too much, hmm? Here’s an idea: thumbnails.
The following article offers some great comments about why Brokeback Mountain has been so well received. I especially adore his comments about Ennis and Jack and their respective strength, but this comment resonated with me because it’s part of the reason some of us write slash, as well. At least, why I do. The slash version of the ‘girl from the wrong side of the tracks’ scenario.
“Brokeback Mountain” is a spare, powerful film about star-crossed lovers. ...offers a new take on an old subject. It’s the ultimate forbidden love —— because part of the population is ready to kill you for acting on it.

The Crossing by
shetheobscure (Jack/Ennis; PG13; character death) Nor did he mind when Ennis, several times a day, came up behind him, pulled him close and enwrapped him so not a smidge of space separated their bodies, kissed his neck and muttered, "Remember me, darlin?" Jack would tip his head against Ennis's shoulder, savoring that ghost of a feeling from Brokeback days, and think, if this was the last thing his body and mind remembered on Earth, he'd be pretty happy with that.
Watching II by
neuontz (Jack/Ennis; R; Ennis pov) The whiskey took over and later in the tent, Jack did something Ennis never saw coming; before he knew it, his hand was pulled down into Jack's jeans, and Ennis went hard and scalded all over but bolted back, flat to the tent with Jack up on his knees, hot prayers in his face, eyes all liquid, and Ennis was burning to finally kiss him but seized him up and threw him over instead, ramming himself into the heat and god it was good, taking him hard like he wanted to hurt him, this man he never figured on needing.

SGA Fic Recs:
The Adventures of Little Johnny and The Beast by
lillyjk (McShep; NC17) Maybe the wine was a mistake, he’d had three glasses at dinner and his entire body felt overly warm. “You may draw the ladies in with your looks, but I’m the one that delivers the goods.” John rolled his eyes. “Whatever. I’m sure your goods aren’t anything to write home about.”
Evil Overlord Sheppard by GraceandFire (McShep; R; AU) He stared down at McKay. Maybe the guy was insane. Maybe Ford’s job was to keep the insane scientist safe from himself and the rest of the galaxy safe from him. Then again, maybe the guy just really liked his jovash. John wrestled with his conscience for about half a second. Uh huh. Really, if the guy was that easy over a cup of jovash....
Once Upon a Furry Octopus by
skoosiepants (McShep pre-slash; PG13) “According to Dr. Parrish,” John went on, “who heard it from Stackhouse, who heard it from Simpson, your courtship of me was all sunshine and romance and involved cookies, Athosian yak yogurt and that Ancient device everyone thinks is a vibrator even though you’ve got it labeled as a farming implement.”
Popcorn, Jr. Mints and Rodney McKay one, two and three by
lillyjk (McShep; NC17) John smiled and teased and flirted with Rodney enough that Ford was confused and Carson had started giving John sympathetic little looks. Rodney, for the most part, never picked up on the flirting because he was oblivious when it came to anything non-scientific. So John made do with leaning in just a little closer than necessary, and letting his shoulder press into Rodney’’s, and, when he could get away with it, letting their legs press together until Rodney elbowed him and accused him of hogging the couch.
Testament by
gulessable (McShep; PG; character death) “Tell Ronan to look under the bench in my bathroom. He is to keep what he finds there, but never tell anyone. Please send the picture of my cat to my sister. She’s allergic. And tell her, tell her I died saving a bunch of kids, would you? Even if I don’t go down in some lab accident, just say there was a flood, or, or a fire and a bunch of kids. She won’t believe you, but it’s worth a try. Oh. WHAT?”
Unicorns and Dragons and Bears, Oh My! by
hackthis (McShep pre-slash; PG) There are unicorns on Pikeon, blue unicorns with gold horns, and this is enough to silence Rodney for the twenty-eight seconds that it takes for the unicorns to realise that John and Rodney are there. After that it's every two-legged creature for himself.
