My weekend, Ficathons musings, and
fall_for_sx
Aug. 1st, 2005 12:00 pmMy busy weekend:
Saturday was my sister and her fiancé’s Jack & Jill party. A good time was had by all, until the clean-up began. *g* By the time I fell into my car, it was after 9pm. Where did the day go?! However, we have leftovers, which means I don’t have to cook today. *bounce*
Sunday we drove up to Old Forge and went on the steamboat cruise and the scenic train ride. When we woke up it was cloudy and I did not harbor positive thoughts about the rest of the day. By the time we got up to Old Forge, however, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. It was a beautiful day! The sweatshirts and rain ponchos stayed in the car. *g* The two-hour steamboat ride was lovely, and by the time we got back to the dock, the rocking of the boat along with the warm sun nearly had me falling asleep. The train ride, on the other hand, did have me falling asleep. The scenery consisted of...trees. Trees, trees, and, yep, more trees. I felt like Jack. *g*
I got lunch out, which was another bonus, and would any day be complete without the obligatory argument with your honey after a long day? No, I didn’t think so. All his fault, of course. *vbg*
TS Ficathon recap: Sadly, a couple people had to back out due to RL crap, but we still got fifty wonderful new TS stories. Yay!!! We had a great time organizing it, and we’re looking forward to the next one. My only disappointment is with the nearly 30 authors, some of whose stories I really wanted to read, who not only didn’t contribute, but didn’t let us know they were backing out. I know, it’s life, but it still sucks. *g*
Numb3rs Ficathon squee: 22 people have signed up for this already! *squeees* I hope we get some more by Friday, but if not, 22 people in a new fandom that’s only been around for about 6 months makes me very happy.
More Fall for S/X: After Summer of Spuffy left me with a bad taste in my mouth, I contacted
claudia6913 regarding
fall_for_sx. She’s too busy to run it again this fall, so she handed it over to me! *bounce*
truly_tazi and I will be your mods this season (and next *g*). Sign-ups will begin in a couple of weeks (which I'll be sure to announce here and at
bloodclaim as well as at
fall_for_sx), so pleasepleaseplease keep one day on your busy calendars open this fall so we can make
fall_for_sx a rousing success!

Date: 2005-08-01 06:44 pm (UTC)Also, may I applaud you on your stellar use of cut-tags? **applauds**
Glad you got sunshine for the rest of your day on the steamboat cruise. That PiP. I suppose him being entirely at fault in the tired-day thing is some consolation. :)

Date: 2005-08-01 07:05 pm (UTC)LOL I try to. Though sometimes I do look at a post and go, oh, it's not that long, is it?!!
Yes, the sun was greatly appreciated! I was already grumbling inside at the possibility of it being cold and damp during the cruise, which would suck all the fun right out of it for me. (But I stuck a notebook in my purse just in case, lol!)

Date: 2005-08-02 12:01 am (UTC)I'm glad you like the icon! All credit to Tam for making the graphics - I just went, 'ooh, pretty'! *g* The banner is a larger version of the icon, and just as nice. Once we get it up so people can see it, lol!

Well, did they *really* back out as in "I'm not going to finish that" or are these cases of "couldn't finish it in time"? If it's the latter, there might be some way or other to motivate them to finish it, even if the deathline is already over.

Since they never contacted us, I have no way of knowing that. I have a feeling that this whole 'old TS writers reunion' thing they had going on must have sounded a lot better in theory when they were signing up than it did after. It makes me doubly sad, because I was really looking forward to reading new TS fic from them. *pouts*
