3825 / 7000 words. 55% done! Due 7/27: I have started this. My anger at my house issues have helped me channel Snape -- hey, if it can't be Klingons, it can be Snape, right? I wrote 3000 words today, it's not going in the direction I expected, I'm not where I wanted to be in the outline, Ginny's not behaving and neither is Snape. I think it will be longer than 7000 words. *sigh*

Sunday, 05 July 2009 @ 22.30 | Whee! Writing update
20616 / 20000 words. 103% done! Draft due 7/3 7/5: Done! Done! Just submitted after an extension. I wrote 7,000 words in the last two days for this. I just hope it's not shit and the people at Starbucks don't think I'm truly insane for the number of hours I spent there yesterday and today. This also makes ~122,500 words completed so far this year.
300 / 7000 words. 4% done! Due 7/27: Now I can concentrate on this. Gah. I'm really hoping that the movie brings back my HP muse somewhat, but I'm not feeling a lot of HP love -- Warner Brothers moving the IMAX doesn't help.

Kirk is not supposed to be a mystery to you. author’s notes: This idea visited me in the shower fully-formed this morning and demanded to be written, so I did before work. Friday, 12 June 2009 @ 11.55 | *scratches head* Er, Star Trek meta?
I thought that, in the Trek-future, we had progressed past money. That was part of the humor of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home ("What is this 'exact change'?").
So what are all these fics that talk about credits and paying for things?
Or am I being way too Old School nerdy and this is an AOS thing and I should just go with it?
Although it has been stated on more than one occasion that the economy of the future was very different, and that money no longer existed in the Federation as late as the 24th century (Star Trek: First Contact), some sort of monetary system still existed and could be accessible to Federation citizens (see Other Mentions below).

To understand a bit about what 1989 meant, there has to be context. I know some of you reading this are in your twenties -- and early twenties at that -- and intellectually know the time period, but not the feel of it. And, I will admit, I'm doing nearly all of this by memory twenty years later, only looking up a few things for links.
It made for a strange nexus point in my life that, even now, twenty years later, I still remember with a sense of giddy hope and optimism though I know what happened.
title:Sabotage pairing/character(s): Kirk/McCoy, Spock, Enterprise crew rating: R status: complete series: fifth in the Away Mission series canon: Star Trek XI word count: ~6,500 other ships: Spock/Uhura genre: drama, action/adventure, angst, mystery warnings: medical emergencies summary: The fall is fast and deep. Bones is relying on Jim’s charmed life to get them out alive this time. author’s notes: This all started as a small drabble thing. I guess I can’t resist Jim Kirk and Leonard McCoy.
Monday, 25 May 2009 @ 21.20 | FIC: By Admiral's Invitation
title:By Admiral’s Invitation pairing/character(s): Kirk/McCoy, Spock, Enterprise crew rating: R status: complete series: fourth in the Away Mission series canon: Star Trek XI word count: ~3,750 other ships: Spock/Uhura genre: drama, angst, mystery summary: During what should be their finest moment, Bones instead uncovers the dark underside of Starfleet. author’s notes: The shout out to TNG is deliberate.
title:Dust pairing: Kirk/McCoy, Spock rating: NC-17 status: complete series: sequel to "Waiting Game" and "Captain on the Bridge" -- third in the Away Mission series canon: Star Trek XI word count: ~3,675 genre: sws, some fluff warnings: dom/sub, gratuitous plot device?, language summary: Jim Kirk’s away missions always seem to end badly. Actually, for Bones, that’s a matter of interpretation. author’s notes: While not specifically in response to one of the “sex pollen” requests at the st_xi_kinkmeme, this is definitely inspired by several of the requests there. And this was originally going to be Kirk/Spock. And Bones had his way with the author – and it was oh so good.
Tuesday, 19 May 2009 @ 23.00 | FIC: Captain on the Bridge
title:Captain on the Bridge pairing/character(s): Kirk/McCoy, Spock rating: PG-13 status: complete series/sequel: sequel to “Waiting Game” canon: Star Trek XI word count: 1700 genre: implied fluff, angst warnings: dark themes, implied rape and torture summary: Jim is a stubborn bastard. title:Waiting Game pairing: Kirk/McCoy rating: PG13 status: complete canon: Star Trek XI word count: 304 genre: implied fluff warnings: dark themes, implied rape and torture summary: Bones waits. author’s notes: I wasn’t going to do it, but then the movie ate my brain and I’ve seen it three times in the first eight days it’s been out. I would have seen it more but my husband just gives me a look. As for the pairing, I blame Chris Pine and Karl Urban -- certainly not William Shatner and DeForrest Kelley. From this prompt at the st_xi_kink meme.

Please note that rape triggers might be contained within, so if have a sensitivity to such triggers you are warned. summary: Something is not quite right with the Doctor. It’s up to Rose and Jack to solve the mystery before it drives them all out of their minds. Literally. Welcome to Cielace. author’s notes: When I finished “Hunger,” I had the feeling the story wasn’t done, despite the fact it had eaten my brain. When the first three people who read it – including one of my betas – said, “That’s it?” I knew it needed more. I hope this helps, because the sequel ate my brain, too. Thank you so much to quill2006 and madam_minnie for their eyes on this. Once again, I couldn’t do it without you, ladies.

Wednesday, 18 March 2009 @ 02.45 | FIC: Out of Time
title:Out of Time pairing: Twelve/Harry/Jack, Harry/Ron/Hermione, [Nine/]Rose/Jack rating: R status: complete fandoms: Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Torchwood canon: DW season 4, HP DH EWE, TW season 2 word count: ~1,875 genre: angst, humor warnings: multiple references to threesomes (het and slash), though nothing graphic summary: Halloween and other holidays have mixed associations for the Doctor and his travelling companions. author’s notes: The bunnies, they are vicious and attack without warning. Sunday, 15 March 2009 @ 23.30 | Defriending Amnesty
Everyone has someone on their friends list they'd like to remove but just haven't. It might even be me. Here's your chance.
On 15 March 2009 is your chance to rearrange your friends list without remorse or recriminations, the only caveat is that you must post this in a public (screened or unscreened) post so those you unfriend may plead their case to be returned if they feel they've been removed in error. On this day, though, you may remove people and not feel guilty about it.
Have you drifted away from someone? Were you once thick as thieves in one fandom but they no longer will have anything to do with that fandom and you don't talk to them any longer but haven't felt right in removing them? On March 15, go right ahead. Has someone found religion and insists upon sharing but you're an avowed atheist? On March 15, feel free to part ways.
If you feel I've defriended you in error, please comment to this entry as comments are screened, not the entry below.
