ABOUT

Scribir is a community for writers suffering from writer's block, or who need to flex their literary muscle, or who are looking for something different to do.

Prompts: Mods will put up a prompt for the community to respond to. The prompt could be in the form of an image or picture, a phrase, a situation, a song, etc. The writers of the community then make their own posts in response to that prompt. Prompts are not limited to just the day they were posted. This means if a prompt was posted on Monday, and you don't come up with an idea for it until Wednesday, that is perfectly fine. Please include the date the prompt was posted in the subject line of their post. Also please include the tag that was used in the prompt post. This makes archiving easier in the future.

Writers are not obligated to respond to every prompt posted. Writers are not obligated to respond to prompts at all.

Freewrite: Do you have something that has just been buzzing about your head with no real context? Post it here! It doesn't have to make sense. Sit down for 10-15 minutes and just let your fingers do their thing over the keyboard. Whatever comes out is what you post. Don't worry about grammar or spelling. All that is asked is that free writes are tagged with your username.

Workshop: If you are looking for critique, please feel free to post your work here. If you are looking for specific feedback, please include what kind of help it is you need at the beginning of your post. If you are looking for feedback, please keep in mind that its only fair to give feedback to other writers.

Fandoms: Scribir is not a fandom-based community. No claims to any fandoms or characters need to be made. However, we do encourage fanfics, fics about original characters in an established fandom, etc.

What Can Be Posted?

Members can post any piece of writing finished or unfinished. Poetry, songfics, lyrics, scripts are all welcome. Members can feel free to post works of any genre.


To Join
Members may join using their personal journal or creative/writing journal (or both, if they'd like). Journals for character's involved in the writer's story are also welcome. However, Scribir IS NOT an RP community. Membership is moderated and it may take 24 to 48 hours before your membership is approved. Please be patient. If you haven't been approved in 48 hours, please feel free to message the Mods.

Once your membership has been approved, please read Da Rules post and leave a comment acknowledging that you have read and understood. Unfortunately, this is necessary to ensure that everyone has a good time. Then, please make a post introducing yourself. There is no form for this intro post, but we would like to know:

Your Name If its your real name, pseudonym/handle or nom de plum, just let us know what you'd like to be called.
What part of the world you're in we don't need specifics, its just nice to know where our members are from
What do you like to write Pretty self explaintory
How did you find/what brings you to Scribir? Where you recommended by a friend, did you find us via search? What do you hope to get out of being here?
Anything Else? Any random little factoids you'd like to include.

Please use your username for the tag.

Mods
Scribir's community owner/maintainer is phoeneko. Please direct any questions, comments, concerns her way. Please be aware that she lives half the year on Mountain Time (2 hours behind Eastern time) and the other half of the year on Pacific Time (3 hours behind Eastern Time), so if she does not respond right away don't fret. She will respond within 24 to 48 hours!
