I'm a few days late with this post, but I did a couple of pieces of artwork for hd_fanart's Harry/Draco Art Fest this year, so here are the links for those:

Title: The Best Aerial Steam Team in the DMLE



Summary: Draco Malfoy is one-half of the best damned Aerial Steam Team in Wizarding Britain, and he's exceedingly proud of it. It doesn't hurt that his partner is adorable delectable not nearly as displeasing as previously presumed, even if Potter doesn't always support Draco's fashion choices. Really, how can Draco not want to transfigure his standard-issue Ministry uniform (boring!) into something more posh. He's still the best at his job. He even invented wings!

Happy Holidays!!! Wishing everyone a wonderful, blessing-filled 2018!

This has been an intensely busy year for me, mostly with home renovation and family health issues. My grandmother died in November at 100 years old. I've posted about that and the past year here on my other journal.

Also on my other journal - Holiday Greetings from me and Middle Earth - a bit of animated art for the season. :)

I did help out again as mod for hd_fanart's Harry/Draco Art Fest this year, so I did some art for that:

Title: Scandal at the Ministry Ball

Summary: Unspeakable Malfoy and Head Auror Potter have been lovers, living together for almost three years, when a dangerous, top secret mission takes Malfoy suddenly out of the country. Until now, to avoid publicity and potential scandal, they've kept their relationship quiet. It's known only to their closest friends, and they rarely appear together in public. But if Draco survives this mission, Harry won't care who sees them together.

Notes: Thank you to dysonrules for prompting this! Like so many in the H/D fandom, I fell head over heels in love with Stanley the mint beetle from saras_girl's fic All Life is Yours to Miss, and I loved the opportunity to bring him to life. Animating Stanley was also my first attempt to work with a 3D shape, so it was both a very fun and a little bit how-the-hell-do-I-move-this-thing experience!

Important Note for Viewing: This is animated art, on four pages. Each animation will probably run (excruciatingly) slowly until the browser finishes loading the file. Please be patient. The second piece of art done for this year's Harry/Draco Art Fest on hd_fanart. :)

Title: At the End of All Our Games

Prompt:
     Time-period or theme: 1920's/art nouveau
     Place: London or Malfoy Manor
     Emotion: anxiety, fear, excitement, love, desperation
     Sense: touch.
     Object: rings, feathers, champagne, diamonds, flowers
     Action: Draco hosts a party at Malfoy Manor that Harry attends, or they both attend a party somewhere in London. They are trying to keep their distance, but love makes it seem impossible; they steal brief moments together, trying not to allow everyone else see.
     Mood: secrecy, forbidden-ness, partying 20's style, gaiety, drunken-ness

Summary: 1920's Muggle styles are all the rage post-war. The Malfoys throw a 1920's party to celebrate the restoration of Malfoy Manor and their liberation from all that nasty Dark Lord business. Who better to invite than the hero responsible, Harry Potter, and his new fiancée. In fact, Draco insists on it. ;-)

Notes: Thank you to savagesnakes for this wonderful prompt! I loved the idea of a 1920's party at Malfoy Manor and had so much fun doing this with an art nouveau style. The 1920's art nouveau dresses were inspired by the work of George Barbier. Ginny's dress and pose were inspired by this art, also by Barbier. The dance poses were inspired by Vernon and Irene Castle. The title of this piece was inspired by "Past the Point of No Return" from Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, specifically the following lyrics:

"Past the point of no return, no backward glances
Our games of make-believe are at an end
Past all thought of 'If' or 'When', no use resisting
Abandon thought and let the dream descend
What raging fire shall flood the soul?
What rich desire unlocks its door?
What sweet seduction lies before us?"

Notes: Thank you to olivia_beige for this great and fun prompt! Besides the Harry Potter books, Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, is one of my very favorite books, and I loved the chance to draw Crowley and Aziraphale as Harry and Draco. I debated a while as to who should be the demon and who should be the angel, but finally it came down to hair color. ;-) I'm not sure I managed to make Harry!Crowley look particularly demonic, and perhaps Draco!Aziraphale is more angelic than Draco-ish, but I hope you'll enjoy this cross-over. Sadly though, wings just wouldn't fit inside the bookstore - I did try, but to have them not showing is more canon anyway - so please think of them as there invisibly. Oh, and since Aziraphale's beloved bookstore was recreated after the Almost-Apocalypse, and since this is Draco!Aziraphale, I thought maybe it should be a bit more posh than it was originally. ;-)

For anyone unfamiliar with Good Omens, things from that universe that I included here: Crowley's beloved 1926 Bentley (parked outside on the street), Crowley's sunglasses that he wears everywhere, even when he doesn't need them, the Closed sign on the door that doesn't say Open on the other side, and Aziraphale's hot cocoa and candles.

I have finally managed to finish Your Heart's Desire! This was a multi-page animated piece that I started for a second prompt I picked up in hd_fanart's 2009 (yes, 2009!) Harry/Draco Art Fest for a prompt submitted by lemon_drop151. The story and art got far more complicated than I had time to complete for the fest, and I barely got enough done to post a Part 1 in the fest. Sadly, I had to leave it very angsty and unresolved. Not my thing at all! *grin*

There were 19 pages in the original Part 1. The complete, finished version now has 50. *rolls eyes at self* But it is done now. Yay! :D

Notes: I fell in love with the idea of this prompt and its lovely words, so many thank yous to phoenix_on_ice for the wonderful drabble inspiration. I changed one word, "sat" to "stood," in the last panel to fit the art. All four of the panels I created include my own photographs as backgrounds - the Hogwarts Castle image was taken at Harry Potter World in Orlando, Florida. Spring and Winter photos are from my back yard, the one for Summer also was taken in Florida, and the one for Autumn in one of my city parks. :)

Action: Auror Harry Potter went missing on assignment and no one's been able to find him. It's been months. Draco's trying to keep a brave front but sometimes, when he's alone and he can't take it anymore, he goes into Harry's/their room, pulls on Harry's jumper/climbs in Harry's bed, breathes in the smell of him, and is both comforted and falls apart.
Mood: Somber angsties on this one.

Notes: I loved this prompt as soon as I read it, so thank you to bryoneybrynn for the gorgeous inspiration. I used the word "missing" in the title for its double meaning - that Harry's location is unknown and that Draco is grieving in his absence. But, of course, I couldn't leave it there... :)

This was my submission for this year's H/D Art Fest on hd_fanart. Posting this makes me a little sad. This is/was the last H/D fest I will be participating in. Maybe not EVER - I hate absolutes, and who knows what will be going on a year or two from now... - but for the forseeable future, I don't plan to sign up for any more after this. Saying goodbye to this part of my life really isn't easy.

But I loved making this piece. And it wasn't the H/D so much as the backgrounds in this that really came right from my heart and my imagination, and I felt very connected to this creation. So most definitely, I am going to be looking for a way to use these backgrounds again for something original in the future. :) Thank you so much to the people who commenting during the fest - I appreciated those comments very much. ^.^

Thanks so much to rosiethemage for the wonderful inspiration. I didn't exactly do blue body paint, but I'm so glad you liked what I did. ♥
