The conversation eventually resumed upon less controversial topics and they continued their meal without any further undue revelations. Slanderous remarks about Andrew didn't count.
I was sure I'd posted this already because of the having to split it into two parts because of the high word-count. It must have been only on my Noel of Spike posting then. So, as I can't find it, here it is now. It follows straight on from Goodbye To All That, (re-edited today) wherein Xander was leaving Africa. As there are references here to a character in that story, you may like to read that first, though it's not essential. Although written out of sequence this is, so far, the second story in the Rippers Files chronology:
