Picspam Meta-ish Thing

So I wrote a short picspam meta/comparison thing, comparing some dialogue between Lancelot and Gwen, and Arthur and Merlin. Has slashy overtones and pretty pictures. Basically me trying to show how Arthur/Merlin is like Lancelot/Gwen... or something. XD

It's over here at my LJ.
I'm pretty excited to find this LJ.  I've been looking for an LJ where I can post my thoughts and discussions are open to a variety of topics in relation to Merlin.  So thanks for existing.  This is essentially my first post, I hope not the last.

Okay so this is my thoughts on the characterization of Morgana and Guin and their relationship in S3 this is spoiler related in comparison to my thoughts after watching it and not based solely on the spoiler.

So, this will have a bit of spoilers for those who have not seen S3, but nothing surprising for those who have or know of the spoilers for S3.

It is entirely about Morgana and Guinevere.  You will notice that I write Guinevere as either G or Guin (still pronounced Gwen).  I just prefer the Guin spelling.  And I will turn Morgana into M---if I mention Merlin it will stay Merlin.

I am not character bashing although I have been accused of it in regards to Morgana.  Enter at your own risk.

Oh note to mod..there is no--- *relationship: gwen & morgana (which this is centrally dealing with)

I don't know if you know Verbotene Liebe (a German soap), but there are these two characters named Christian and Olli...

and they look EXACTLY like Arthur and Merlin. No joke.

Photographic evidence here.

(Mods, please delete this if not allowed.)
Some meta expanding on the idea that in Merlin magical means gay. It's Arthur/Merlin and Merlin/Morgana friendly, with medieval sodomy, hot fairies and some femslash thrown in. Fake cut this way:

Magic as a Metaphor for Homosexuality

Archetypes in Merlin

Hello, I posted some meta on archetypes in the show and Arthurian legends in general.

Contains spoilers for the whole series and slash/femslash overtones.

Having Fun By Picking Things Apart: Archetypes In Merlin

Question from an Arthurian legend newbie

Hello all!  I was wondering about Merlin's age in previous texts/versions of the story. I've just started reading Le Morte D'Arthur and although it doesn't imply he's a boy, it doesn't say what age he is, or describe him at all (so far), just that he can appear in different guises. So I was wondering where the popular equation of Merlin with an old man came from? Is there any reference to him actually looking like an old man or is this just something that's popularly imagined?

Arthur's opinion of Merlin

One of the comments the producers made in the commentary for ep 1 got me wondering Arthur's opinion of Merlin is, as of ep 11.

Spoilers to ep 11 and for the episode 1 commentaryCollapse )
