In the last couple of years, the blogosphere has become a legitimate voice in the political discourse. The best bloggers like Andrew Sullivan and Josh Marshall reach as many readers (if not more) as do the New York Times or the Washington Post.
For those of us who are hardcore political junkies, blogs are often the first port-of-call for in-depth commentary on the latest developments in the Beltway and beyond. This is because the quality of analysis in the best blogs quite often surpass the insipid offerings of traditional media outlets like television or newspapers.
Every reader has their own list of favorite blogs. I, for example, cannot do without the following: Billmon, Josh Marshall, Atrios, Daily Kos, Kevin Drum and Matt Yglesias. I visit these sites at least once a day, usually more often!
These are of course all left wing blogs, reflecting my own political orientation. When I am looking for an alternative (translation: right-wing) viewpoint, I visit the more rational conservative blogs: Sullivan, Tacitus, Dan Drezner, Instapundit. [OK, maybe Insta doesn't quite make it into the "rational" category, but he is the godfather of the genre, so one pays the occasional visit!]
This community is for those who take a similar interest in blogs from the left/liberal/progressive side of the political fence. Please drop a line if you want to join!"
