Channel 5 has released first image from their new mystery series LAST RESORT which follows retired librarian Gail (Caroline Quentin) as she takes her sister, Joy (Niamh Cusack), to an idyllic holiday town in what is supposed to be a fun-filled bucket list trip. Sadly, Joy is suffering from the early stages of dementia, so the sisters are keen to get the most out of every moment they have left together, inviting longtime friends Dee (Tessa Peake-Jones) and Charlie (Jason Watkins) along for the ride. However, these best-laid plans quickly go awry when tragedy strikes the local community, with police being quick to declare an unfortunate accident – but the group are convinced it is murder and set out to prove it. As old crimes surface and dark patterns emerge, the group of friends finds that this seemingly idyllic resort town – with its beach walks, pub lunches, and good-natured bickering – hides something far more sinister. Together they must piece together one devastating mystery and track down a killer who has been hunting in this close-knit coastal community and beyond! John Hannah plays a cop. 

 

THE OTHER BENNET SISTER XMAS SPECIAL

BBC is, meanwhile, wishing you a Mary Christmas! Their popular costume drama THE OTHER BENNET SISTER is returning for a three-part special this Christmas. Ella Bruccoleri returns as Mary, with a host of other familiar faces from the series. The series offers a fresh take on one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet. Forced to step out of her sisters' shadows, Mary embarks on a journey of self-discovery – finding love, and most importantly herself, along the way. BritBox is airing it in USA. 

 

 

LEANNE SEASON TWO ARRIVES AUGUST 

Netflix has announced the return of their multicamera sitcom LEANNE for August 27th with Leanne Morgan returning as Leanne whose world is turned upside down when her husband of 33 years unexpectedly leaves her for another woman. Supported by her family, including her ride-or-die sister Carol (Kristen Johnston), Leanne learns to embrace the chaos and finds strength, laughter and hope in the most unexpected places. Channel 5 has released a trailer for their new four part mystery series THE FORTUNE (previously known as The Family Secret) that asks: what if your past isn’t what you think it is? The series will hit the small screens Tuesday June 2nd which is in less than two weeks! Eleanor Tomlinson stars as Amanda Blakefield, whose life is a happy one with her husband, Jimmy(Matthew Lewis), and their son Luke. Amanda has her world shattered after she is left an enormous inheritance by a man she has neither met nor heard of before. Her life starts to disintegrate as she becomes embroiled in the world of The Worrall Family. The patriarch Martin Worrall (Denis Lawson), is head of a family which is bound in past secrets. Although the first season just ended over on PBS Masterpiece, it actually aired on Channel 5 in UK last September and season two of THE FORSYTES costume drama is coming over there quite soon so a lavish teaserannouncing it has been released! I also don't have to remind you that the third season has already been ordered as well. Joshua Orpin, Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport, Danny Griffin, Stephen Moyer, Millie Gibson, Tuppence Middleton, Eleanor Tomlinson will all return with Richard Rankin joining the cast in the second run. In this next chapter which was shot last year in Britain, the proud dynasty faces a new era of scandal, ambition, and shifting loyalties. The five-part thriller, set against the backdrop of a picturesque French village, follows British single mother Sarah whose daughter disappears while on a school exchange trip, soon after attempting a late-night call to her mom. Despite indifference from local authorities and the host family, Sarah goes on a search for her daughter that spirals into a dangerous race against time. As per tradition Channel 5 will air an additional season 6 Christmas episode of nations' favourite series ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL but this time it will arrive on Christmas Eve December 24th with a special behind the scenes documentary airing at 20h and the festive episode at21h after that. It’s Christmas 1945, the first peacetime Christmas after the war. With Helen (Rachel Shenton) feeling under the weather, it’s fallen on James (Nicholas Ralph) to take on the Darrowby Nativity play. Siegfried (Samuel West) is back at Mrs Stokes’ Farm to see Hilda the goat, who’s been up to more mischief and, true to form, gives Siegfried the run-around. Will Siegfried’s drench solution do the trick? Christmas dinner is in very short supply this year, so Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) is keen to enter the Drovers' darts competition and scoop the first prize; a fresh turkey. Maggie reminds Tristan (Callum Woodhouse) he’s supposed to be supplying the Christmas tree and he covers himself, but of course, he’d forgotten. Charlotte resolves to help him.
