FIRST LOOK AT NEW BBC ONE TV SERIES

British Broadcaster BBC One has released first images and a trailer for their new psychological thriller TV series THE RAPTURE adapted from Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel. The five parter is a high-stakes thriller which crackles with danger. Set in a heatwave, with protestors on the streets, forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio). Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (Sam Hazeldine), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religiousmovement. Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future - but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did? The cast also includes Iwan Rheon, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lisa Palfrey, Siena Kelly, Naby Dakhli, Richard Elis, Dean Rehman, Robert Rhodes and Ruth Jones.

According to Deadline, Patty Jenkins will produce romantic movie adaptation of Sidney Karger's best seller BEST MEN about a romantically challenged “man of honour” who falls for the groom’s charming best man. To be directed by Jason Crain this gay love story follows romantically challenged Max Moody, who is asked by his childhood best friend Paige to serve as her “man of honor” at her wedding, only to be paired with the groom’s impossibly charming best man, Chasten. What begins as competitive misery soon gives way to unexpected chemistry, transforming the wedding Max has been dreading into the romance he never saw coming!

Meanwhile, Joe Wright has been set to direct the movie adaptation of sf  post apocalyptic thriller JUICE by Tim Winton set in a fractured and ravaged world following a climate-change disaster. A young husband and father is recruited into a top-secret resistance organization, joining the ranks of militia men tasked with targeting the isolated and wealthy culprits responsible for this global catastrophe. When a mission goes wrong, he finds himself on the run, having to fight to the end to survive in this hostile world.

New Les Miserables arrive this October

 uprisings in France, it follows the character of Jean Valjean, a peasant sentenced to five years’ hard labour for stealing a loaf of bread whose story spans several years as he is released from prison and reintegrated into society, yet pursued by a police inspector on his trail. Vincent Lindon plays Jean Valjean, with Tahar Rahim as his nemesis Inspector Javert. Benjamin Lavernhe and Camille Cottin are evil innkeepers Thénardier and Madame Thénardier. Noemie Merlant plays the tragic figure of Fantine, whose daughter, Cosette, Valjean takes in as his own. It will arrive October 14th 2026.

Although her popular YA book saga Red Queen was also sold for a TV series adaptation to Peacock with Elizabeth Banks as producer but the deal was never actually realised, Victoria Aveyard's new adult fantasy book TEMPEST has also been sold for a TV adaptation at Chernin Entertainment. The book is out this September as the first part of The Lyrian Sea duology. According to Deadline, it will be an epic adventure of love and betrayal, amid a brutal war for the high seas, a pirate fantasy set against the fall of the Golden Age of Piracy, following a former noblewoman caught between empire and rebellion – and between duty and the only man she’s ever loved.
