A little about Girlie

Who is GirlieOnTheEdge?

There’s no easy answer to that question but there is a simple answer.  GirlieOnTheEdge is a clark .  I look at life through the lens of a clark.  That is to say, I relate myself to the world as a clark.  I am not a scott, though my secondary aspect is more scottian than rogerian.  What is a roger? Clarification needed?  Click here.  A perusal of “the Wakefield Doctrine aka the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers” will either clarify my statements or puzzle you.  Either of these reactions is a good thing 🙂

Always,
Girlie

P.S.  My given name is Denise Farley.  I’m pleased to meet you and if the little blurb above hasn’t scared you away, then I look forward to you joining me at the Edge.

It’s quite a tribute to your dad that he would initially respond to the poet declaration with ” No, really…”, and then, after short consideration, give you the best advice he could. Shows that he really did respect you, and your decision.

Yes, he was encouraging as to the writing thing. I remember him telling me I could write about anything and everything my mind could conjure.
My Dad was a natural at the piano but little did I Know he was somewhat of a poet himself. About 6 years or so ago I was going through some boxes that had been packed away and came across a leather billfold/padholder thing that belonged to my mother. I went through all the compartments, each one empty until the very last one. There was a delicate, yellowed single sheet of paper carefully folded in half and then half again. It was a poem my Dad had written to my mother a very, very long time ago. It was beautiful. I remember sitting on the edge of the bed reading it, my eyes filling with tears. How can I describe the feeling of discovering that my Dad was the source of my hopeful, romantic “poet’s heart”?
My only regret is not knowing this about him while he was alive. Now that would be one collaborative effort to be reckoned with.

GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise, I made a mistake! Imagine that. I had read on another link about your prompt word “finish” so I hopped over and decided to join your challenge. Alas, I did not pay attention to the six-word sentence part. I used it in a haiku. Sorry. I’ll do the six words next time. I’m going to the link and read some six-word stories. Bad to start off like this!

Hi Oneta! No worries. Glad you decided to participate!
I post the prompt word on Sunday each week and then post the link on Wednesday night. I hope we see you at next week’s Six Sentence Stories 🙂

I’ve never heard of the Wakefield Doctrine so that was cool to learn. And I guess I’m also a clark but I like the part on rogerian expression (kind of like puns to me?) so maybe I have a drop of roger.

      Hm…what is 2+2? 😀
rogerian expressions. Unmistakable when you hear one, difficult not to smile at. Yeah, I guess kind of like a pun, but not. Best to ask Clark directly to tell you about rogerian expressions.
Thanks for following my blog, Michael! Look forward to you linking your Six Sentence Story on Thursday!

    Hi, Denise!😊

Let me repeat a comment :
Will you write a book already?!
You have the pen and you have the ink.

    The journey continues.

Hi Denise, I have 2 Borscht recipes for you. I tend to consult/compile most recipes that I cook, I call it tweaking–to get everything I want in the pot or dish (ingreds, spices, etc).

Here’s the first one–the easy one! I’ll be back with the 2nd one in a jiffY!

Hi, Cale. Thank you for both recipes. Sounds like a great method to employ.
You create your own, personalized “version”!

Okay, I think you’ll like the title of this borscht recipe (and it’s easy too):

By the way, the “t” at the end is silent, according to my Russian caregiver😊

Let me know if you try either of them–it’s a hearty dish, especially good during cooler seasons, although I’ve heard that some people eat it cold! And there are many variations–I like mine with some sour cream mixed in.

Thanks much for being here for us, Denise…some of us get through the week just because of 6SS💖🤗💖

Anything with “easy” in the title is right up my alley.
I like saying it with the “t” 😉 but she or he, should know!

I will let you know. The only soup I’ve prepared from scratch is chicken
noodle (I use wide egg noodles) and it’s pretty hearty in my book. I like
to go heavy on the noodles, lol
I’d be willing to try sour cream with the borscht.

It really is my pleasure, Cale. You’re very sweet and I always enjoy
      reading your Sixes.
Thank you again for the recipes 🤗

Not sure if you caught it, but the part I thought you might enjoy is that the one recipe comes from Cook the Story.com. In a way, that’s kinda what we do each week with our 6SS! Stirring, adding ingreds….😊

Oh, my gosh, I didn’t catch it! If I’d been more awake that would
not have totally slipped by me, lol. You sending the recipes last
night is what inspired this morning’s post so it must have sunk in
on some level! Thank you for recipes and inspiration 🤗

Oh, you’re so welcome, it was a small “gift” to send you! I might have another look at that cooking site–if there’s a recipe that sounds good I could take advantage of the cool title: Cook the Story!🍜
