Wet Saturday Morning in my Garden

It is a wet and cloudy Saturday / Lauantai morning, yet warmer than the previous days.

I’ll take you on a tour in my September garden. Our house is situated
in the middle of the property. First we look at the terrace and lawn side to the west.

I cut down this parthenocissus in July, too late actually.

But it has grown beautifully to the arch. Behind you see an Aralia elata 

showing already some autumn color.

This thuja ’Smaragd’ was growing in a big pot on the terrace and

I planted it into the ground yesterday. Also lime mummularias have been planted

in the ground for winter. I use them in the sommer in big pots with summer flowers.

Behind the thuja and aralia there is our small lawn and a rose shrub area. And my flat granite.

I got these two big rocks from the opposite neighbour when they were building their house.

To the left from the granite there is another rose shrub area with sedums in front of them.

In front of our terrace there is a flower border. Right now Symphyotrichum novi-belgii is 

blooming beautifully but  Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster’ is not totally open yet.

At the other side of the garden there is a little pool, a lot of different shrubs and planting areas, 

no lawn, only paths. There is also a pergola with Humulus lupulus ’Aurea’ and parthenocissus.

Pumpkin Festival

Koiramäen pajutalli’s Pumpkin Festival was fun and colourful!

There was a lot of eye candy and fun for the kids! I’ll tell you more about the kids’ fun later.

Koiramäen pajutalli, a charming gift shop, is situated in an old country house and rural setting 

very near my home. The main building hosts a pleasant small cafe and a shop 

with all kinds of decorations. In the sheds and barn scattered around the courtyard 

you’ll find almost anything made out of willow.  During Pumpkin Festival 

the place was crowded with families and kids. Have to make another visit before Christmas 

as I did last year. SEE my posts of this lovely old place.

Sun & Rain in Turns

Das ist der Blick von meiner Küchentreppe. Mittwochabend hatten wir einen starken Regenfall

und die Beleuchtung war unwirklich. Mein Mann hatte gerade sein Auto genommen 

und war einkaufen gegangen. Er brauchte eine Ewigkeit, weil er einen anderen Weg 

einschlagen musste: Die Unterführung überschwemmte.

This is the view from my kitchen stairs. Wednesday evening we got a heavy rain fall 

and the lighting was unreal. My husband had just taken his car and gone shopping. 

It took him for ages because he had to take another way: the underpass was flooding.

 There were many flood incidents nearby! 

Draussen - zwischen den Regenschauern - gibt es vor dem Winter noch viel zu tun.

I have been outside between the rain showers, still a lot to do before the winter.

 Letztes Jahr hat mein Humulus wunderschöne Zapfen gemacht, 

dieses Jahr sind sie sehr klein.

Last year my humulus made beautiful cones, this year theyt are tiny.

Tämä huoleton ja vaivaton kaksivuotinen kasvi kukkii toukokuussa ihanin purppuraisin kukin.  

Ensimmäisenä vuonna kasvaa aika iso ja ruma lehtiruusuke,
joka seuraavana keväänä näyttää olevan kuoleman kielissä. Mutta ehei, kotvan kuluttua saa ihailla kaunista kukintaa.

This carefree and effortless biennial blossoms in May with most wonderful purple flowers. 

The first year it makes a big and ugly rosette of leaves that the next spring seems to be almost dead. But no way!
After a while you can admire its beautiful blooming.
