Wow, I'd have to up my strength on the grocery store readers to see that one. Good eye! or eyes! Been seeing some monarch dancing around the flowers in the office garden this past week. They're around.
Oh goody, I love your caterpillar and butterfly pictures! I just found a bunch of orange dots on our milkweed, but thought maybe they were bugs since it seems so late in the summer. Maybe they're eggs afterall. Hope so.
I haven't seen any this year, but there have been some milkweed leaves chewed. There are lots of wasps all over the leaves, and I'm afraid they are laying their eggs as soon as any caterpillars emerge, and they aren't surviving. I need to research to see if there's anything that can be done about it. I do not use any insecticides, but I could see about getting some protective sleeves. I'd just have to be careful not to block the monarchs from being able to lay their eggs on them. Maybe this is a project for when I retire.
"Some people, in order to discover God, read books. But there is a great book: the very appearance of created things. Look above you! Look below you! Read it. God, whom you want to discover, never wrote that book with ink. Instead He set before your eyes the things that He had made. Can you ask for a louder voice than that?”

Thank you

How exciting.I hope you get to watch and photograph all the stages.
Love those stylish stripes!!
What an amazing image! The point of the pencil really gives us a sense of scale. Nicely done! I hope we get to see the butterfly develop.
What an awesome experience this is. Our grandchild would love this. I too hope we get to see the butterfly develop.

Cute little fella. I hope he knows which is his front and which is his back because I can't tell!
Isn't it exciting! I do hope you will continue to take photographs as it grows. :)
