Surface tension
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Surface tension is a contractive tendency of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force. It is revealed, for example, in the floating of some objects on the surface of water, even though they are denser than water, and in the ability of some insects (e.g. water striders) to run on the water surface.
OK, that explains it. (o:
Now, how it got there and how it knew we were filling the pond once again, I don't have a clue.

Magical...
Yes, the lightning bugs have been magical at dusk. Hundreds of them rising from the corn fields, woods and the long grass surrounding our yard. I tried every setting on the camera, looked for help on the internet, but I can't figure out how to photograph them. So these photos maybe give you a hint on what it looks like.
Have you photographed lightning bugs? The song below is rather magical too.

These are a few of my favorite things week - Last Day!
Little Miss Muffet, sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
Along came a spider, who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet Anita away.
(This thing was HUGE! Tomorrow, back to more pleasant snapshots...)

Web Week Day 5
This web fascinated me. The spider took advantage of the one blade of grass that was taller than all the rest.
