Thank you for the help

[edit]

Hello MartinPoulter. I wanted to thank you for reading the Lawrence Weston Wind Turbine article, which I primarily wrote, and editing it to improve the overall quality and cohesiveness. I keep trying to improve my writing skills on Wikipedia but it is clear that I still have a lot to work on as some grammatical errors still make their way through the cracks, to which I apologise. If it isn't too much trouble, can I ask for some advice to help me improve my writing in the future. All the best, CaptainGalaxy 15:36, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Captain Galaxy. Amazing work on that article! I learned a lot and it's of interest because I live not too far from the wind turbine. The only things I've found wrong with it are grammatical errors which are easy to fix. You've done the difficult work and now pedants like me can tweak smaller details. My advice is to check that everything punctuated as a sentence actually is a sentence and to watch out for the same thing being stated multiple times, e.g. "the council approved the project... deciding it was worth pursuing" (paraphrase of your text) doesn't really say more than "the council approved the project". I've found these exercises by another veteran Wikipedian incredibly useful in cutting down my overly wordy style. Best wishes, MartinPoulter (talk) 10:46, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Palermo Quran

[edit]
BERJAYA

On 3 June 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Palermo Quran, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Palermo Quran (detail pictured) has been described as "the single most important artifact so far known to survive from Muslim Sicily"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Palermo Quran. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Palermo Quran), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Thank you, great to see something that interesting on DYK! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:19, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yesterday was the former German Unity Day, installed when unity was just a dream. I had a story to match, and today, it's another one, with music by Bach and Mendelssohn to match, - a DYK hook 15 years ago, which seems like from a different world. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:01, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
