Article Request: TRMS (The Real Me Studios)

[edit]

Hi Usernamekiran, I noticed that there's no article yet for TRMS (The Real Me Studios), even though it's listed on MusicBrainz and is the label behind artist SXMRXXT and releases like NOTHING IS OFFICIAL. Since you enjoy working on overlooked topics, I was wondering if you'd be willing to create a stub for it? It would really mean a lot. Thank you! 117.194.108.43 (talk) 02:12, 19 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello 117.194.108.43 I could not find any information on TRMS (The Real Me Studios). I will have to say it fails the notability criteria for organisations. In short, to be notable, an entity must have significant coverage in reliable sources. —usernamekiran (talk) 02:31, 19 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Bot speed

[edit]

Hello! I kindly ask you to increase the delay time of the bot in the Russian Wikipedia after edits made by unregistered users and newly registered accounts. At the moment, your bot makes edits just a few seconds after any change. Sometimes such edits include vandalism or other violations, which makes them harder to detect or leads to incorrect reverts (1, 2, 3). I would like to request that the bot’s edits be made only a few days after such changes. Mitte27 (talk) 09:25, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Mitte27: Hello. I understand your point. The bot's edit are whitelisted, so the vandalism must get whitelisted as well. I'm currently out of town. I will get back home in 4-5 days. I will look at it as soon as I get home. —usernamekiran (talk) 13:59, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Purpose of having KiranBOT

[edit]

Hi Kiran, I just read User:KiranBOT/AMP which explains what is done and how is that done, but I missed a reasoning about why Wikipedia needs this done. Is removing AMP done to improve reader experience, to reduce the data flow to Google, to work around bugs or for some other reason ?

If Wikipedia already has a place where this is explained, I would be happy if you could link there from the bot's page, otherwise could you please add a section "Reasoning" or the like to this page ? Thank you, -- Juergen 5.147.163.199 (talk) 15:11, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello Juergen. Yes, you are correct, I somehow missed/forgot to add the reasoning section. I will do it soon. You are correct. It is not entirely to "reduce the data flow to Google". The AMP URLs are, in short, privacy invasive; and they also pose a security risk. The other reason is that AMP URLs often seem to become non-operational after a while. That creates difficulties with Wikipedia's verifiability policy in case the URL was not archived. So it is preferable to use the canonical URLs. Thanks for reminding, I will add the "reasoning" section soon. —usernamekiran (talk) 16:42, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

List of sports figures considered the greatest

[edit]

Hey Kiran, for some reason the references at List of sports figures considered the greatest are not displaying anymore. Not sure if it was because of the recent KiranBot edit or not, but it just happened. Let me know your thoughts. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 01:50, 19 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

@GOAT Bones231012: there was an issue with template:reflist. It had been discussed in the past at WP:VPT, and is currently (indirectly/tangentially) being discussed at Wikipedia:Bot requests/Archive 88#List-defined references format. It is not a well-known/well-publicised issue. I will post this incident there just to be sure. thanks for pointing it out. —usernamekiran (talk) 02:42, 19 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Template:Editnotices/Page/Template:Old moves/doc

[edit]

Hi usernamekiran. I came across Template:Editnotices/Page/Template:Old moves/doc and noticed that it doesn't seem to be serving any purpose now (the sandbox link is broken, and even if fixed, it would redirect to the doc page). I was planning to send it to TfD but decided to ask for your thoughts on it first. jlwoodwa (talk) 20:11, 29 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jlwoodwa. I have no issues with deletion, I will request for speedy after this edit. There were a few moves, and rewrites of the template, and doc. It was created as part of me trying to simplify the documentation, but then it was redirected and moved (page history) The current documentation is not confusing, and that particular edit notice has been rendered useless as well. Thanks for contacting me first, it saved a lot of community time at Tfd. It is appreciated a lot. —usernamekiran (talk) 10:04, 31 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]
BERJAYA

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:36, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Pppery: Hello. I have responded to most of the questions on their talk pages. Some of them were not responded to, as they already welcome-message/warning on the talk page, like User talk:Yubrajpandeya02. A few days ago, on the dashboard, I had changed the frequency to non-manual lowest — "about half the average". I will look for what happens for a week or two, if I cant respond to the questions properly till then, I will mark myself as away. —usernamekiran (talk) 14:34, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Administrator Elections - Call for Candidates

[edit]

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • November 25 – December 1 - Call for candidates
  • December 4–8 - Discussion phase
  • December 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for admin elections candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Administrator Elections - Discussion Phase

[edit]

The discussion phase of the December 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • Dec 4–8 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • Dec 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Discussion phase.

On December 9, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which typically lasts between a couple days and a week. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate who has not been recalled must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. A candidate that has been recalled must have at least 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Administrator Elections - Voting Phase

[edit]

The voting phase of the December 2025 administrator elections has started and will continue until Dec 15 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • Dec 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies to vote has a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's vote total during the election. The suffrage requirements are similar to those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for a few days, perhaps longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (this is a good page to watchlist), and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a non-recall candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and a minimum of 20 support votes. Recall candidates must achieve 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Whether you want to work on bot frameworks, tools, or other technical projects, this could be a great opportunity to collaborate with fellow developers. Registration closes mid-January or when full. Let me know if there are any questions. Hope to see you there! Daanvr (talk) 09:25, 12 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

KiranBOT needs botflag @ kowiki

[edit]

Hello, since December 2025, as explained at m:Stewards' noticeboard/Archives/2025-12#Upcoming changes to kowiki's Bot policy implementation, global bots are only permitted to work on kowiki if they are working on double redirects or wikidata fixes. Since kowiki allows unapproved bots to edit (with 1 edit per minute, because it is assumed that edits are visible in Recent Changes), please either file a local BRFA, or run it within kowiki's limitations. Pywikibot user-config.py

[edit]

Hi Usernamekiran. I want to ask if you know if there's any way to workaround adding usernames["(family)"]["(lang)"] = "YourBotHere" for every wiki that the bot should edit, similar to the wildcard example on mw:Manual:Pywikibot/user-config.py for authenticate[]. Tenshi! (Talk page) 21:14, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tenshi. I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to ask. Are you using a script/bot provided by pywikibot, like replacebot? In replacebot, the script wouldn't edit any project unless you tell it which project to edit. For non-pywikibot/"pre-provided scripts", you have to define the site where your bot should edit. So even if you use the wildcard, not every site would be edited unless you specifically define the sites to be edited. In main (custom) script it can be done by:
site1 = pywikibot.Site("en", "wikipedia")
site2 = pywikibot.Site("de", "wikipedia")

My config file has following:

usernames['wikipedia']['*'] = 'KiranBOT' # wildcard for all wikis
#usernames['wikipedia']['mr'] = 'KiranBOT_II' # override for mrwiki

I control which sites to edit/exclude from another file. In the same file, I have also mentioned some wikis that are not available in pywikibot. Also, even if you add/define the site to edit, it will not be edited unless a local account exists there. I hope this answers your question, if not feel free to ask again. —usernamekiran (talk) 07:36, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

I'm aware of the requirement to specify the site whenever you need an instance of pywikibot.Site as well as needing a local account to exist first, I'm not sure how I can be clearer than I was above, though I was looking for usernames['wikipedia']['*'], as I previously tried usernames['*']['*'] which didn't work. Tenshi Hi. I didn't mean to say you don't know, I apologise for the confusion. Conversing over text is often confusing. I'm well aware you are a good bot-op BERJAYA. In user-config each site family needs to be explicitly mentioned, but usernames can be wildcarded. Passwords can be similarly wildcarded:
('wikipedia', 'KiranBOT', BotPassword('labs', '<password>'))
('wikidata', 'KiranBOT', BotPassword('labs', '<password>'))
('wikinews', 'KiranBOT', BotPassword('labs', '<password>'))
('wikivoyage', 'KiranBOT', BotPassword('labs', '<password>'))
('mr', 'wikipedia', 'KiranBOT_II', BotPassword('labs', '<password>')),
The entries that come later overrides the previous entries. Please feel free to ask any questions you have. —usernamekiran (talk) 17:14, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Issue with bot

[edit]

Dear Kiran, I noticed your bot has an issue where it uses a template to generate a message, which in turn uses the talk quote inline template. However, since this was quoting text that included the = character, this broke the template. The bot or the template it uses should be adjusted such that the first parameter of the tq template is always filled starting with 1= so that this will not happen anymore.

See my edit fixing it on my own talk page, and the template’s page for more context. Thank you in advance. Happy editing. Slomo666 (talk) 11:19, 20 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Slomo666: Hi. Sorry for the delayed response. I will soon implement the code in actual bot. Thank you for pointing it out. —usernamekiran (talk) 01:55, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
No rush. Thanks for responding. Slomo666 (talk) 02:31, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Filmssssssssssss: Hi. The article was created in userspace of RAJRAUT15. That userpage has some move history which involved me. Maybe that's why Twinkle thought I was the page creator. SDZeroBot notified the correct creator RAJRAUT15 properly. See you around :-) —usernamekiran (talk) 03:24, 26 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Another request for aid

[edit]

Hey Usernamekiran!

You might remember me from this discussion on WT:ITN. I know I already made a request over there, but I wanted to seek advice from you relating to another project of mine.

WP:ERRORS has never had an archive page, and there are a lot of folk who think that should change. I've started the process of archiving discussions manually, but given that ERRORS has just under 150K revisions over a period of two decades, archiving by hand will obviously be intensely time-consuming. When I attempted to solicit aid on WP:VP, Graham87 (talk · contribs) recommended that KiranBOT (talk · contribs) could aid in the process, again like the ITN posting archives. The issue is however that ERRORS posting is a lot more hectic (there aren't any subpages for any of the MP sections, and things are often not cleared out at once).

So as such, I just want to know if it would be feasible to use KirianBOT to help with this process? Any advice relating to this archiving process would be much appreciated. PS, I also saw your reply on WT:ITN and am planning on gathering consensus in favor of the move. Thanks! — Knightoftheswords 17:46, 11 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

May 2026 Administrator Election – Call for Candidates

[edit]
BERJAYA

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/May 2026/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • April 29 – May 5: Call for candidates
  • May 8–12: Discussion phase
  • May 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase

May 2026 Administrator Elections – Discussion Phase

[edit]
BERJAYA

The discussion phase of the May 2026 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • May 8–12: Discussion phase (we are here)
  • May 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase

We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/May 2026/Discussion phase.

On 13 May, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for.

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

May 2026 Administrator Elections – Voting Phase

[edit]
BERJAYA

The voting phase of the May 2026 administrator elections has started and will continue until 19 May 2026 at 23:59 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/May 2026/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • May 13–19: SecurePoll voting phase (we are here)
  • Scrutineering phase

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

You're invited to the Mentorship noticeboard

[edit]

Hi, Usernamekiran. You are cordially invited to the brand new Wikipedia:Mentorship noticeboard. I get the impression sometimes that we mentors are each toiling in our own cubbyhole or hamster wheel, quietly answering mentee questions with little to no interaction with other mentors. I think we have a lot to share and learn from each other, and I know it will make me feel better just having the opportunity to interact with you and other mentors there, and I hope it will for you, too. Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Please take the § Survey when you get there! Mathglot (talk) 01:10, 5 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Articles for Creation backlog drive

[edit]
BERJAYA

Hello Usernamekiran:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
