Proposal for Archive of Archives, representation of GLAM topics
[edit]Partly in the light of d:Wikidata:Requests for comment/Notability policy reform, and given that this is already for several years a wiki-in-search-of-purpose (other than the excellent newsletter!), I would like to propose one.
We need a place to represent GLAM topics in archives/collections/catalogs, that don't necessarily have external identifiers or meet Wikipedia standards of notability, but that are vitally useful for outreach and our partnerships with under-resourced cultural institutions. This proposal would build on the m:Wikispore Basic concept, and on the following grant: m:Grants:Programs/Wikimedia Community Fund/Rapid Fund/Wikidata-ArchivesSpace GLAM plugin (ID: 23096591). I've also submitted to present about this idea at the upcoming Wikimania in July 2026. Pharos (talk) 22:44, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean about characterizing this wiki as in need of purpose, but I support your porposal. Koavf (talk) 23:20, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks, I just meant that there were perhaps more opportunities to differentiate further beyond something that looks like a more specialized Meta-Wiki. Pharos (talk) 18:15, 13 April 2026 (UTC)
- You generally have good intentions and are a smart and valued member of the community, so I personally trust your judgement. Koavf (talk) 00:54, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Pharos @Koavf was Meta-Wiki not set to be inward coordination wiki and Outreach-wiki as outward facing wiki? I think it failed to find not purpose but resources to shape in the way that it is more accessible to Wikimedia GLAM+EDU partners/newbies - no? I would love if this Wiki would have its About page rather then just redirect :-) Zblace (talk) 02:05, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- I think that characterization of m: versus outreach: is more-or-less correct. Koavf (talk) 02:20, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

- This wiki generally would be fine for outward-facing GLAM and education work. You might want to search the wiki to see if there are already pages here which could be revitalized for what you'd like to do. You also might take a look at Community and Personal Archiving Resources, Community Archiving Happy Hour, and GLAM, for example. ↠Pine (✉) 02:07, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
