Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, edit the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.

@YeedyYaada Primary topic nabs are almost always controversial, I suggest opening a RM. I've moved the disamb back to its original title. msk 02:07, 14 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe we should suggest a parenthetical disambiguation qualifier? 1isall (talk | contribs) 00:57, 15 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This is very unlikely to be mistaken for the Indonesian film, which is the only other non-wrestling entry at that disambiguation. All the other entries are derivatives of or related to the main wrestling event/concept, with "Forbidden Door" seemingly being the WP:COMMONNAME. The only issue I see would be if "The Forbidden Door" should point to the dab or elsewhere, but I think retaining the former would be the best approach. @OpalYosutebito I think this is a case of WP:COMMONNAME/WP:NATDAB rather than improper disambiguation formatting. A search tells me this is actually a standard way of referring to the university. I think it would be unwise to perform this move without an RM discussion consensus. ⹃Maltazarian parleyinvestigate 05:08, 15 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I have dismantled all move histories of the pages and recorded them in my sandbox here. Based on that analysis none of the listed articles are actually requests to revert recent undiscussed moves. Reviewing them as regular technical requests yields that based on their long and complex move history and multiple RM's none of them are eligible for a WP:BOLDMOVE which is why I moved them down here. If they should be moved again, please open a RM. Best, Squawk7700 (talk) 22:35, 16 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on that (permalink for future convenience), I think with that many moves a multi-page RM would be ideal. ASUKITE 22:44, 16 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the multi-page RM like I did here. 𝙳.𝟷𝟾𝚝𝚑 𝙼𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚖𝚎 01:13, 17 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
This doesn't seem like the parentheses are being used to disambiguate, but rather as part of the common name. That said, most results I get looking it up do not put the NT650 in parentheses, so perhaps the best title should actually be Honda Hawk GT NT650? Do you have any thoughts on that? ⹃Maltazarian parleyinvestigate 21:25, 16 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, Kawasaki ninja 400 moved the article yesterday from Honda NT650. The parentheses were added to the first sentence in 2021. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 23:08, 16 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I forgot to check the history log after checking the move log so I didn't see that. Best thing to do might be moving it back to Honda NT650 and opening a move discussion on what the title should be. ⹃Maltazarian parleyinvestigate 00:59, 17 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Reverted for now based on this discussion, but the intro title in the lead has been "Honda Hawk GT (NT650)" for a while, which might explain why it was moved there in the first place. (Second look at web sources indicates "Honda Hawk GT" is a plausible title, but a lot of sources also seem to include the number as well). Hawk GT apparently has also redirected to this since 2025, previously was a dab pointing to this topic and Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. Google searches for "Hawk GT" seem to pull up both.
