The support assistant spits out outdated information and is not very helpful. I have been trying to fix the menu on my website with the Kamala theme. It is way too big and takes up the entire page. I have made no progress using the support assistant.

Hi there,
Could you please share the details of what you’d like to achieve? Right now, your menu looks a bit weird, as shown in the screenshot below.
Would you like to remove those links and only include pages such as Home, About, Contact, etc.?

Hello,
No, I just want the menu to drop down and not take over the entire page when someone clicks on it. I know how to remove things from the menu and submenu, I just want what’s shown to not consume so much of the page.

Hi @thelogospodhost!
Apologies for the wait. I know it’s been a long road trying to get this sorted out, and I appreciate your patience.
The reason your menu takes up the entire page is because of how the overlay is designed by default in the Kamala theme. To make it smaller so it doesn’t consume the full screen, you have two options:
- Create a custom overlay template, or
- Edit the existing overlay by placing everything inside a Group block and setting a max width on that Group block to whatever size works best for your site.
This will keep your menu contained to the size you choose rather than stretching across the whole page.
If you’d like more tailored, step-by-step guidance on making these changes for your specific setup, you can reach out to us directly by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/
We’ll be happy to walk you through it!
