Revolution Slider Free?

    It’s my understanding that Revolution Slider is a commercial plugin, meaning that it requires a purchased license to work. Is that correct? Is there a free version of Revolution Slider?

    The reason I ask – I run a web hosting company – I’m seeing a lot of users with Revolution Slider plugins installed and they don’t seem to really know how it got there or how to update it. I’m starting to think that other plugins or themes are bundling a version of Revolution Slider into their plugin/theme and then it’s just stuck there. I don’t know if these are nulled scripts or really what.

    I thought perhaps there was a free version of Revolution Slider that is made available to other plugins or themes. Or is this a common thing with all plugins and themes?

    There is no free version of Slider Revolution, it is a commercial product: https://revolution.themepunch.com/

    They sell an extended license which allows theme developers to bundle it with their themes for free to the end user.

    At least now I don’t have to go around accusing people of used nulled scripts on their WordPress.

    Would the extended licensed version show up under wp-content/plugins or would it would it be under the wp-content/themes/<<theme>> directory?

    This may not be the best place to ask, but seem to get a quicker response here.

    Yes, all plugins are installed under /wp-content/plugins/ even if they’re bundled with a theme.
