So it rained through all of the weekend and yesterday, and I got to work from home 'cause of flooding. My family's OK; as usual the water rose up at the back of the house, but luckily not high enough to enter the house this time. Weather news last night said there's another storm outside the country so the rain will continue until Thursday morning at the earliest--but there's none right now, just really heavy dark clouds. I hope it doesn't rain tonight on my commute.orz
Anyway~. I spent yesterday listening to Night Vale while working and I'm currently on episode 10. This series is both genius and insane. It's hilarious enough to have me smiling through most of the clips, but never funny enough for me to laugh out loud. I find myself repeatedly stopping work to listen carefully--then catch myself and remember that everything Cecil says is ridiculous. Well. Almost everything.
I think episode 2 is my favorite one so far. You know, about the Glow Cloud? What Cecil said about things that seem to be big at the present but turn out almost insignificant once they've passed make a lot of sense. Not only does it make a lot of sense, but it's also something we know already. Still, it's nice to be reminded.=)
...which means of course that I've spent almost every episode henceforth trying to fathom some kind of deep message to all of Cecil's words until I say, "fuck it, there's nothing there". And even then I wonder if I missed something....
There's one thing that's been really bothering me though. I've triple-checked and I don't think I missed an episode but, what happened after the end (at the end?) of Episode 3 - Station Management? You know, the one where Cecil talked too much and the station management stepped out of the room and--cliffie. I was at the edge of my seat but there's no mention of it in Episode 4 at all.D:
At the very least, I now understand why people ship Cecil and Carlos. Just how more blatant can Cecil's crush get when he's outright admitted on air that he's in love? The answer is: a lot more.xD
Finally, I would like to say that Night Vale is a very scary place to live in. I've lost track of how many people (and interns) have died in Cecil's reports a long time ago. Am I the only one who finds the casual, almost cheerful way he talks about them more disturbing than the barbaric town lottery...?
