As an old gay I'm angry to see gay conservatives disavow sections of the gay community that they consider too sexual or not nice enough. We didn't go through everything we went through so that some pissy little bitch could whine to his parents that he saw a man in a harness.

Many people have been making the comparison between the AIDS crisis and the corona virus crisis. As someone who lived through the former and intends to live through the latter, I thought I would add my thoughts on this.

I think a lot of people will die from COVID-19. Many of you are saying that "only" old people will die. In the AIDS crisis there were also many people saying that "only" people who didn't matter would die. It was ugly then and it's ugly now. Don't be like this.

Hello everyone. Today is my birthday and I'm 58 years old. Because of the AIDS crisis I never expected to live this long so I have no plan but I'm very happy to be here still. Please raise a glass--alcoholic or non-alcoholic as you wish--and celebrate.

Today is my 60th birthday. I know it's nothing really, but as a young gay man in the 80s I never imagine that I could live this long so I'm going to celebrate it as an achievement and I hope you will too. It is such a pleasure to know you lovely people.

The first point to make is that it's in many ways a bad comparison. COVID-19 is much easier to catch, but the fatality rate is low. In the 80s the fatality rate for AIDS was 100%. We had no reason to think it would change so we thought we were all going to die. That's different.

Hello friends. My mother has died. She was 91 and had had a wonderful life, including 64 years very happily married to my father. My sister and I can't cross the border to see our father, which is hard. Here's my mother as I first remember her, when we were living in Abidjan.

For me, Pride Month is partly a time for looking backwards & remembering those who died of AIDS. Today is the anniversary of the death of someone I loved very much, so this will be a sad thread about the AIDS years.
