We named The GAP Band after Greenwood Archer & Pine streets because we all knew what happened to the thriving Black community of Greenwood in Tulsa, OK during the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
Today we honor and remember the innocent lives taken in the devastating events of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. 🙏🏿 @TheGapBand’s name was chosen as tribute to Greenwood, Archer, and Pine streets, paying homage to the vibrant Black community in my hometown of Tulsa, OK. 💪🏿
