So... because this is about writing, I figured it'd be an okay place to post this (even if no one has posted in a while). If not, feel free to delete this post or tell me to remove it.
I'm involved with a new HP fanfiction archive that just opened today. It accepts all stories up to an equivalent of PG-13 and all pairings save bestiality and student/teacher. If you need a place to post your writing besides LJ, this would be it.
It's called Spiraling Stairways: http://spiralingstairs.net
I just figured I'd mention it. Thanks!

12:51 pm - Challenge 2: Parvati and Divination
|

justams
|
I figured it was time to post a challenge here again, or just post anything at all really. So yeah, here's a new challenge. Might not be too exciting for everyone, but hopefully some will give it a try. I think I will myself. :)
Parvati stops believing in Divination. The rest is up to you. If it's just temporary insanity from her, or long-lasting is up to you. So is the length of the fic, but it would be nice if you made it a little longer then a drabble. :)I wanted to make a minor character challenge, as I always find them very interesting.
if anyone have any ideas to challenges, let us know! And continue posting your fics here, or asking for help to them, even if things are a little slow right now.

My name is Thyme, and I am a writter. I am currently writting a Charlie Weasley/Katie Bell fic (I love weird pairings like that) and I need a beta. Is there anyone here who would like to help me?
If you want to see samples of my older work (from a few years ago) go to here though that website is very out of date I'm afraid. If you can help me please post here.

9:42 pm - Chapter 2. The dinner.

The second chapter of my fanfic But I don't care. I have a beta reader now, and I just send it to her to beta it, but I just couldn't resist posting it, even thought it's not beta read yet. I will post the beta read version as soon as it's done, or change it to it then. But you now, please look away from the spelling and grammar mistake you find.
Title: But I don't care. Chapter 2, The Dinner. Rating: This one is PG I guess. But it will be higher in the coming ones. Pairings: Remus/Tonks. Spolier: YES! It's spoiler from book 6. Summary: Both Remus and Tonks thinks they are gonna eat a good meal with the Weasley family, but when they notice that the other one is there too, it all change. A/N: Beta read version of this story will come soon. If you didn't read chapter one, you can find it here: Chapter 1

I have written a new fanfic, without a beta reader to correct the mistakes in it, but I hope it's not too much. I don't have a beta reader at the moment, so if you know someone that wants to beta for me, please let me know.
Title: But I don't care! Author: Madelene ( madeleneg) Rating: G - PG, or something like that. Pairings: Remus Lupin/Nymphadora Tonks. Spolier YES! This fic has spoilers from the HBP book. Beware! Summary: Is set in the begining of book 6. Tonks looking for the right opportunity to tell Remus about her feelings, but gets suprise when he stumble into her house in the middle of the night. A/N: Beware again, I have not had this story beta read, so it might be some spelling and grammar mistakes. Please don't point them all out.

I have organised the memories for this community, so that it will hopefully be easy to look for old fics and discussions. And I wonna ask everyone to be specific in the subject line when posting. It makes it easier that way. Especially discussions and things like that. Some day soon I'm planning on making banners and codes for this community, and go searching for affiliates. If anyone of our members have any communities/sites that are HP and/or writing related and want to be affiliates, just leave a comment here with a link.

11:17 am - Fight/Action scenes
|

justams
|
I need some advice on fight/action scenes in general, not just harry potter. I've been writing lots of fics for a tv-show called The Tribe, and most of them have some sort of action scene. But the thing is that I'm never happy with any of them. How do you write everything that's happening in a short period of time without making it too much like a summary, or without making it sound like people are just standing around waiting for their turn to do something? Any suggestions or advice?

As the release of HBP is drawing near, what do you wish to see more of in the book? I know I want to see more of Percy Weasley and his Rebellion.
Will Harry be angrier, angstier, or just weirder? XD Interesting to think about.

Since there hasn't been much posting, what's everyone up to? Are they going to do much writing over the summer?
Oooh, summer booklists! Recommend a book - it's always fun. :) I recommend Eragon by Christopher Paolini, which is about a boy who finds a dragon egg and then befriends the dragon that hatches from it. And then gets himself into a mess of adventure. The author was fifteen when he started writing it, and nineteen when it was published. (You can colour me jealous.)
Go on, it's your turn. ;)

All right, people, I have a challenge for you! A fun one, hopefully.
Describe what you think these characters look like, however short or long you prefer:
Vincent Crabbe Ron Weasley Seamus Finnigan Professor McGonagall Professor Snape
Also, of which character would you like to see in more fic? And why is it popular to write so porny fics in the HP fandom at the moment? Just wondering.

Title: Breaking Up The Marauders (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2378251/1/) Author: Ruinsul (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/556676/) Genre: Romance/Drama Rating: PG-13/T Characters: Marauders + Lily and two OCs Summary: "There can't be any Marauder pranks if there aren't any Marauders..." When the Marauders finally push Lily and her friends too far, they decide to retaliate. But even the most carefully laid out plan can go awry... Check it out :-) If you read it, please review at the site! I love feedback!
I'm allowed to post finished fiction on here, right?
If I'm not, I'm really really sorry and just take it off...

4:42 pm - Dialogue
|

Mods, if I'm barking up the wrong tree, just delete.
I've got a problem regarding dialogue punctuation (which myself and three betas have all missed whilst tearing apart my work). What do you do when you need (or just want) to split two sentences with a dialogue tag, but they aren't different enough to warrant a new paragraph?

11:10 pm - Hello!
|

lily_lilac

Hi! I just joined the community, and thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Meghan, I'm 19, and interested in just about everything. I love writing. It is often a catharsis for me *hence the online journal*, and I've recently become interested in fan fiction. I love writing, and reading, short stories, although I love reading anything.
Here's a question: Is there any weird place you keep pens/paper, in case you get inspired?
I keep a pen in my purse, and often write on my left arm, and I also keep sticky-notes by the bathroom mirror and next to my bed.

Since no one has written in here lately, I just had a question to ask you all: What's your writing schedule? When do you write best? How long do you write? What do you recommend is the best amount of time to write if you've a busy schedule/RL crap?
It'd be interesting to compare.

If you all want to, what do you say to a group chat? Do you have AIM/MSN/Y!messenger? I think chats every now and then would be nice and then we can get to know each other better. My AIM sn is desertofdivinity. My MSN is remussirius@hotmail.com, although I don't use that too often (but I can if the majority of us are on MSN).
I hope to talk to you all somehow!
