BERJAYAWell, it's finally over! Whether you made it to fifty thousand or twenty thousand, we've all accomplished something huge.

So here is a little meme for everyone to complete, based on NaNoWriMo 2007! Just copy and paste the text under the cut below and post!

Also, I would love for everyone to take a moment to complete this little meme about our community. If there are any improvements to make, let me know! Please just copy and paste the text under the cut below, and respond in a comment to this entry!

36356 / 50000 words. 73% done!

any other stragglers? anyone already won? anyone completely tossed in the towel?

congratulations to everyone already finished!

to everyone else: don't give up! we can do it!
19th-Nov-2007 09:05 pm - What? It's already Day 18?
And Day 18 is already almost over (EST)?!

Yes, it's true. I've got a whole mess of excuses for not running this community in the last eighteen days, but they're not important. What's important is that we've all come to this day together, and that slowly but surely we are making our way to November 30th, and a 50,000 word novel!

Where does everyone stand? Chris Baty says we should all be working our way to the upper 20,000's. Personally, I set a 2k word goal for each day (which unfortunately I have not been making, due to some health problems). Last night I broke the 23k mark, which was a triumph for me in its own. Now I'm working toward 30k!

Anyway, for anyone who is literally at a loss for words, and everyone else who is just looking for something to do or for something different for their novel, take a few minutes to complete this quick prompt. You can write as much or as little as you want, but keep in mind it's meant to boost your word count, so you should try to write as much as possible! You can post it here in a comment or separate post, or you can keep it to yourself and just add it to your novel.

the grass grew almost to the ankles of whomever walked through it

Good luck to everyone! Keep writing!
12th-Nov-2007 04:11 am - Author Search is Up and Running
sokka
Now that the beloved Author Search is up and running, should we make another post of people's NaNoWriMo profile names. I know we've done this before, but for people who are still looking for writing buddies, it should be easier now that the author search is up.

Mine is sorakainomori. Add me up. ^_^.
10th-Nov-2007 02:08 pm - login, log in, or log-in?
Hello everyone. Hope your writing is goingly smoothly and that you are all having fun!

I have a question. When talking about signing in to a website, computer, forum, etc, is it best to use the term login, log in or log-in? From what I gather, the first two are merely contextual. Log in is the mention of doing it, such as Please log in to [website]. Login is the act itself, like the [login] button. What do you guys think?

4th-Nov-2007 10:52 pm - chapter-length-rant-moment
i don't know why, but i can never get my chapters to last longer than like four or five pages. when i'm writing, it feels like each chapter is long enough. but when i actually look at the page number, and realize i'm now going on five chapters and have only written eighteen pages, i have to wonder. i know some authors write shorter chapters. some write really long ones. both piss me, as a reader, off. i really would love to have that happy medium. anyone else have this problem? i mean, i guess it's okay, as long as i feel like the chapter tells that part of the story fully, but still. i guess it's maybe the OCD in me?

anyway, i just broke 6k and i'm still going steady. just wanted to have a chapter-length-rant. xD

the fun begins!

Good luck to everyone!
27th-Oct-2007 01:30 pm - 5 days to go!
I blink, and suddenly there are only five days left! Which means now I can officially run around in circles trying to get everything ready for Day 1. Before I do that though, I think it's time I introduce myself here, and time for everyone else to do so as well! Feel free to use my format, change it or make your own.

Name: Lis (a lot of the time you'll see me sign posts with my intitals: EKB)
Age: 19
Location: Waterbury, CT, USA

Other LiveJournals: Just this one, and this community.
NaNoWriMo.org Username: delirious19th
AIM Username: delirious19th
Other Instant Messenger Usernames: N/A

Years Participated: This will be my third.
Years Won: Hopefully, this one will be my first!
This Year's Genre: Mystery/Suspense
This Year's Plot/Story/Characters: All I can tell you is that it's about a spy who finds himself in a huge mess, tentatively entitled The Cure Program. It will be mostly character-driven, because that's the way I like it; basically the story of what this guy does when he finds himself neck-deep in shit.

3 Random Things About Me:
  • I love horror movies. Sometime this weekend I'm hoping to go see the new Saw. I blame it all on my mommy; I grew up watching Dracula, Rosemary's Baby, Psycho.. you name it, I've seen it.

  • My favorite movie as a child was "Fievel", though most know it as An American Tail. I used to watch it over and over, and still can.

  • If I didn't have music, I would probably die. I listen to a lot of different music, and my taste varies--except rap. I hate rap. Mainly I listen to all different forms of rock. At the moment I'm really into The Birthday Massacre and NIN. And, of course, I love Lacuna Coil.

Favorite Things to Do, Besides Writing: web design, drawing, reading, snuggling, watching movies, playing video games, eating!

What I Hope to Get Out of NaNoWriMo 2007: I hope to end up with a novel I'm really proud of, and a sense of accomplishment. My first year, I finished the novel but didn't hit the required 50k mark. I still felt good, but not as good as it would have felt to have accomplished writing 50k words. Eh. I guess that's the OCD talking.

Anything Else?: Good luck to everyone!

PS: If everyone wouldn't mind tagging their intro posts with "nanowrimo 2007 participants", I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

17th-Oct-2007 04:09 pm - TWO WEEKS LEFT!
Here is the part where half of us run around and panic, while the other half bounces up and down in anticipation. Which half are you?

Also, imagine all the people who will be signing up from now to the first couple of weeks of November!

For the next two weeks, I will do my best to post something every day to help us all get ready for the day we're all waiting for, whether we're ready of not--November 1st!

As part of our two week countdown, today I challenge you all to post a description of one minor character in your NaNoNovel! What is his or her favorite food? What color are their eyes? If challenged to a Gin Rummy game, would s/he win or lose?
