Free Verse, Sammi Scribbles

Sometimes

The wish to disappear
drifts like dust…
and settles.

I coil into thoughts,
fading from the heavy gaze
of expectation.

Stealing solitude from within,
I will a smile.
Performing
for the crowd without.

No Way, Not Ever

Deep down I have this inkling.
Night shadows start a’dwindling.
Morning drifts through blinds,
light twinkling.
Birdsong stitches
silver notes tinkling.
A feather on ground,
dew on leaves wrinkling.
Tiny ears, shy nose,
winkling.

The breeze reminds me
of my whispered dreams
and wishes in this place.

Each tiny treasure,
mine to hold.
Full of possibility and grace.

The “what might” flashes, blinking.
The corners of my eyes
start crinkling.
Happiness dusts.
(But just a sprinkling)

I walk on smiling,
my pockets full of hope.

This feeling?
Just an inkling?

No way.

Not ever.

Nope.
