“PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF”

Hello, from Melmac! Oops, sorry…my planet doesn’t exist any more. I live here with the nice lady now. I am a funny, sarcastic, hungry all the time, puppet. I used to have a TV show, “ALF”, which ran from 1986 to 1990. My name was the title of the show, and here’s what it means… A = Alien L = Life F = Form… ALF.

I was given to the nice lady quite a long time ago, by a friend. She was moving and thought I’d be happy to live with the nice lady’s family. This photo of me was when I was working a bit for Burger King, the fast food restaurant. See my apron? It says ‘Cookin’ with ALF’. Cool, huh? I’m retired now, and am taking it easy, here at home. I’ve met the cats…I didn’t eat them. The nice lady would not approve of that. I do play with the cats sometimes, though, with the nice lady’s supervision.

And now it is 2026. I’m still here, but sadly we lost the cats to old age. I miss playing with them. I don’t think the lady wants to play with me anymore. She thinks she’s too old for puppets. Sigh. There aren’t any little kids around here either.

Hey, maybe I’m not worthless! I might be a collector item by now. I mean, I’m cute, I can talk, I make kids happy, and …ahem, I’m pretty old, too. I did like acting in my TV show. So I’m famous that way, too. P. S. I was just teasing about aliens from Melmac liking to eat cats. I just said that to get into arguments with the family on TV. haha. I did have a tiny guest appearance more recent. I had a whatcha call it ‘cameo’? on Young Sheldon TV show when the little girl Missy, wrote ALF a fan letter. I’m always up for doing bit parts. It doesn’t pay much, but hey, it’s something to do.

Well, I think this challenge says to write around 500 words, but I just can’t think of much more to say. Just thank the hostesses very much, and thank you the readers for visiting me. It’s been fun!  (359 words) 🙂

June 28 – Song about enjoying the outdoors

***

“Mother Nature”, by the HU, can be found on their 2022 album, “Rumble of Thunder”. It is on the Better Noise Music label. This song acts as an ode to the earth, nature, and cultural heritage, focusing on themes of awareness, protection, and harmony between humans and the natural world.

[English translation:]

A raven arrives from the east and lands at the gate
Calls caw caw
Does it say be aware of the culprits from far and near
Fear not
A black-billed magpie hops and waggles its tail
Chatters wock wock
Do you beseech and say to stay away from disputes
Fear not

Dear mother, are you worried about your child
Did you offer milk in the early sunrise
Dear mother, is your soul troubled
Did you fly your words to your child with no hesitation

In a straw valley a noble crane flies up
Calls in echoes
Telling your son, the rainfall of the high heaven is underway
Your son is well
Dark clouds swarm and sounds thunderously
Downpour and spill
Granting loving heart to common sense
It is a great destiny

Dear mother, are you worried about your child
Did you offer milk in the early sunrise
Dear mother, is your soul troubled
Did you fly your words to your child with no hesitation

Gentle breeze whistles and kindles faith
Did you say be aspired
Did my mother whisper, be confident in mind
Your son is well
White falcon flies in circle over the Toono
Hastens and dives
It folded the time and conveyed the ancestral spirits and mettle
It is a great destiny

Dear mother, your royal wisdom is a precious treasure for your children
It is a great destiny
Dear mother, your royal courage is the supreme force of the Mother Earth

This next song is one I remember we’d sing in music class when I was in elementary school. It’s a fun one about going hiking. Lyrics on the video (just a man playing a guitar on this video), but it’s been recorded by many choirs and other people over the years.

“The Happy Wanderer”. On 22 January 1954 the song entered the UK singles chart and stayed on the chart—only a Top 12 at the time—for 26 non-consecutive weeks, peaking at Number 2 (for five consecutive weeks).

🐀🐀🐀

Put a mouse trap in a drawer

I don’t hear that mouse no more

I don’t hear no scratch or squeak

But now I’m scared to take a peek

Is it dead or is it not

Guess I’ll leave it there to rot

Get to Know You

BERJAYA

For Kymber’s prompt:

Get to Know You #94!

***

1. If you could make one everyday task 10% easier, which one would you pick?

Every day I drop stuff on the floor. It would be good if that was reduced by at least 10 percent. I wrote a whole post one time  about how I wish we could control gravity, and if we drop something it would just float there in the air until we can grab it and put it back where it goes.

2. What’s something you know an oddly specific amount about?

Well, I don’t know. I know a little about a lot of things, but a specific amount? How do you measure this? I know more about the game of golf than I ever wanted to know. I don’t even like golf, to play or to watch or to hear about it. But, my husband does. So I hear about it all the time, all the terminology, the players, the courses, etc. Before that, my Dad, my uncle, my cousin, also liked and talked about golfing. My husband was assistant pro at a golf club for awhile, and he played lots of tournaments around TX, and I heard all about those, too. So, yeah I know a lot about it.

3. What’s a piece of common advice you’ve decided simply does not apply to you?

Maybe that if someone gives you advice, just nod, smile, and then do whatever you want to do, never mind what they said, unless you feel it is good advice to follow. So following some random advice without checking it out yourself, well, I don’t do that.

These Bear Grass Yucca and pink flowers were outside of a restaurant. I read that Bear Grass and Yucca are two different plants, but to me they seem the same, and we call them one way or another. Anyway, Mostly I was featuring the pink flowers, which I don’t know what these are either. Maybe roses of some sort.

The captain of the Black Widows leapfrog team, had a successful prescription for winning these fun but competitive jumping games. Before the game, each participant had to shampoo their hair with Oompahs, which was the copycat shampoo lather anagram It had a fruity aroma and was also their battle cry. After winning, they were treated to bakery sweets.

  4. Tell about a time you were on a boat.
  5. Sharw one great piece of advice you’e received.
  6. Talk about a time you hid from someone.

***

Of course when we were kids we played hide and seek with friends. It was lots of fun, and for some reason we also played a variation of this called Piggy wants a signal. So it worked the same, except the one who was ‘it’ would after he couldn’t find the hiders, would holler ‘Piggy wants a signal’, and everyone hiding would have to make some noise or say something as a clue to where they were.

Later years, we played this (in the house) with our little grand daughter. Their house had a lot of hiding places! So much fun.

~

Here’s a tree I saw in a local park. It had a big thing on the side, sort of hollowed out. That would make a good hide out for some critter, I think.

Here’s the opening to our attic. It is in the garage. It looks spooky up there, and I’m always thinking maybe someone is hiding out up there, or has been living up there for years, and we don’t know about it. I think they spy on us, through little holes in our ceiling. 🙂
